I started buying/collecting the Dark Horse Savage Sword of Conan volumes 1 - 6 (SS of KULL vol. 1, and Saga of Solomon Kane) prior to the recent release of the Marvel additions.
What are the differences between the Dark Horse and Marvel versions, and what is the difference from what was published in the original 70's 80's magazines?
Savage Sword and Savage Sword of Conan, etc.?
I also see there is a collection of Red Sonja (The Further Adventures of Red Sonja) that features her stories from 70's Savage Sword of Conan?
What's what, and what's the best?
Thank you!

The Dark Horse ones are the old floppy phone book style, while the Marvels are hardback on glossy paper. Marvel was also able to use other stories from their stable when reprinting the Savage Tales issues (Ka-Zar, Man-Thing), but not Kull, Solomon Kane or Red Sonja except when she appears in a story with Conan. Depends what you're looking for, if you just want the stories, the DH ones will probably do. If you want a higher end collection with full color covers, articles, letter pages, etc., the Marvel omnis are the way to go. Neither collects the complete issues, but at least DH has the Kull and Solomon Kane phone books to fill in some of the gaps. It's an open question at the moment if Marvel will make a deal to reprint those themselves, at the moment it's no.
The Red Sonja one reprints a number of stories from Conan the Barbarian and Savage Sword of Conan, but with the modern coloring. Your mileage may vary if you want them that way, but that's the only way they are collected right now. I don't see Dynamite going back and doing a B&W collection for them.

Thank you very much for the reply/information! I wish I was aware of the Marvel's prior to buying the DH's, but I have enjoyed the DH's for what they are. Thanks again!

Did the Dark Horse volumes censor the nudity?

Did the Dark Horse volumes censor the nudity? I think they kept the nudity in the Dark Horse phonebook editions - I'm not 100% certain though. If I remember correctly, the SSOC reprints in Conan Saga did censor/edit some of the content.

Just checked online, some of the Dark Horse volumes on eBay are going for around $50, $60 or even $100.
