Fun and very quick read. Conan is now really into the swing of modern living, going for the big heists and teaming up with Rhino. A bit weird how Conan always kept trying to get Spider Man to strip his duds off, but Conan was after Logan's claws too, thinks the powers come from the accessories. If he comes across Cap in his travels will probably try and swipe the shield. The best part was the promise of the next instalment where he will be teaming up with Ghost Rider, the teaser gives the impressions that they will be fighting werewolves, now that's cool. Yeah, I think he asked Spidey to remove his costume one too many times. Conan did fight Captain America in one of the old What if..? comics but I can't remember which one.

That's the one, I think it was a what if..? within a What if..? I believe it was a continuation of issue 13 if Conan did not get transported back to the Hyborian age but instead remained in the 80s.

While this comic doesn't always work for me when it's at its best I'm kinda surprised at how much fun I have reading it.
The interpretation of Conan is on the cartoonish side, but I imagine that hardcore Marvel fans would probably say the same about how their favorite heroes and villians are being treated here, too. The focus is on wild, over the top combat and bouncing the Conan character off of established Marvel icons. The writer seems to be having a very good time and it can be infectious.
Obviously, for some of us this kind of story is a bridge too far for the barbarian, but if you don't experience an automatic full recoil at the concept of Conan interacting with the wider Marvel universe then you should really give Savage Avengers a try.

Savage Avengers #21Written by Gerry Duggan Art by Patrick Zircher Nightmare comes for the Marvel Universe and the Doctor is out, but luckily, Conan and Ghost Rider are IN. Flaming skulls are things Conan usually extinguishes with swords, but he’s vaguely okay with Johnny Blaze. IN STORES TOMORROW!

Read this one today.
As always, Zircher's art is great. This issue seems more like plot glue and the cover is somewhat misleading.
Although we don't get any werewolves, we do get an interesting fight scene and a Hyborian age Ghost Rider. Overall another great issue in my opinion.

Nevertheless, I still have problem with Duggan's understanding of Conan's chronology. This particular rendition of Conan is still quite young. It is set shortly after the Queen of the Black Coast run by the Rascally Roy Thomas. How can Conan know he's in Aquilonia on the last page if he's never been there before!!! How can the Cimmerian recognise Aquilonia instantaneously? Here's a map of his adventures before the QotBC run by Roy Thomas: I know I'm being a little overzealous with my criticism but with a little more attention to detail this series can be a lot better. Don't get me wrong it is great fun and probably the best Marvel Avengers book. It can still be a lot better if Marvel writers stop neglecting the basics.

Time for a No Prize! Figure out when Conan could have been there before Queen and it's yours.

It was ok, but was disappointed that Conan and Ghost Rider did not have a team up against werewolves.

Savage Avengers #22
Conan and Ghost Rider get to the bottom of Nightmare’s machinations and his werewolves’ origins…and Johnny Blaze isn’t the first Ghost Rider that Conan has encountered - he knew one back in Hyboria that rode around on a GIANT SPIDER. This chapter proves you can’t spell ‘flashback’ without the ‘AAH!’ IN STORES TOMORROW!
