The Citadel of Forgotten Myths was ok, definitely not the best Elric story, it could have done with more action, and it needlessly meandered at times, the characters spent too much time philosophising and rambling to the point where I wondered if Moorcock was drunk or on LSD when he wrote some of it, especially towards the end of the book. I am no writer as you can tell, but editing would have helped.
It did provide some insight into the inhuman nature and origins of Melniboneans. Not too much WOKE, but you can see some of the influence from current western politics and ideology wind its way into it, noticed that there was a difference between the works done between the 60's and 90's from left oriented writers such as Salvatore and Moorcock, and what they are producing now, but that's outside the scope of this thread.
One more gripe, although minor, where the hell was the fantasy map of the places Elric explored in the book...!?!

Sure, people should probably pick it up as a bridge to Stormbringer, and if nothing else just to revisit the adventures of Elric again. I didn't feel like I was clamouring for more when I got to the last page, no spoilers, but the ending was kind of like an anti climax, felt like Moorcock just wanted to quickly wrap it up. Of course other readers mileage might vary.

I quite enjoy philosophical asides so long as they are interesting.
I need to read this before I can truly comment though.

So do I normally, but when the same point is being repeated over and over again, paragraph after paragraph....
Anyway, will be interested to hear your view...especially after you have read the last one third of the book.
