Thanks for pointing that out! Apparently, I was too lazy/stupid to use the forum's "search" function (which works pretty well) and just "eyeballed" it. I tried the search just now and both came up. I can't even blame it on being "late at night". I started the redundant thread at about frikkin' NOON. Moral of this story: Use the search function. NOTE: Threads have been merged.

Great thread. Man I lamented this when it fell apart. The B&W Marvel adaptation by Barry Windsor Smith was one of my earliest Conan comics. I have a bit of an issued with digitally hoarding cool fantasy art, and have a few landscapes, but uploading directly is a PITA. Love this Valeria, though. Sexiest pirate I've seen in a while. Mick.

My favorite. One of my favorite things about S&S in general, and Conan in particular, is the sense of wonder in exploring new evocative places. This painting really captures that for me. This single painting is the reason I'm so sad this movie was abandoned... that little silhouette in the foreground? I wanted to be that guy, seeing what was in that pool, and the temple beyond... This could have been so good!!! Wish it had been completed. The fight choreography in these basic animated scenes looks awesome. Would love to have seen the finished product!

Was this going to be entirely cgi animated? In my opinion there is no better suited visual medium for Conan then traditional hand drawn animation. Cgi is not bad, but I vastly prefer hand drawn.

Hand drawn animation is mostly just for TV anymore and I don't even know how much of that is hand drawn either. For a Fleischer animated Conan film instead of Mr. Bug Goes To Town...

And why did Bakshi and Frazetta give us Fire and Ice when they could have given us Conan? I enjoy Fire and Ice, but...
I should not put Frazetta's name here, it was not his idea, but if he had the same role in a Conan animation...well I can dream, right?

I'm unfamiliar with those names. Upon looking up there animation style...I can't say it would fit very well. Maybe a style more in vain with the traditional concept art shown for this film. Or outsource the animation to a Japanese animation studio that would be capable of pulling off the right look.
