... Although I seem to have succeeded in uploading my pic to the proposed message, I must confess that I don't know how to get it positioned as an avatar in the left-hand margin, so I would especially like to ask for your help with that. Hi VALERIA SPIRIT, and welcome to this fine new forum. It's great to have another Lady Warrior member here. -- >> SELECTING YOUR AVATAR [ detailed HELP ] open your PROFILE [ its on the wide black menu, just under the REH book covers at top ] then choose EDIT PROFILE [ its on 2nd line from top ] it will put you into the main AVATAR MENU. look into UPLOADED / LINKED menu area [ on left side ] > clik on UPLOAD /LINK [ its a simple small text link ] then on 'Upload an image from your computer' > SELECT IMAGE [ then choose a pic file from your pc ] then back on main avatar menu in 'Choose how your avatar will display' > select *Use only the Uploaded/Linked* [ button ] then when you are happy with how your avatar looks > clik on SAVE AVATAR CHANGES [ big button ] ==== ==== Rock on Valeria !

Hi VALERIA SPIRIT, and welcome to this fine new forum. It's great to have another Lady Warrior member here. -- >> SELECTING YOUR AVATAR [ detailed HELP ] <Message edited for brevity> ==== Rock on Valeria ! Hi, Buxom Sorceress! (Is that how you prefer to be addressed?) Thank you for the warm welcome! I am looking forward to participating actively here - from my brief scan of the Forum, it looks pretty active, even tho I understand this is a placeholder for the anticipated permanent Forum being prepared over at the REH Foundation site. I don't want to say too much more here, as it would be off topic for this thread, but On Topic, I would like to thank you for your detailed instructions regarding the avatar appearance. They look clear, and I will get back to you regarding whether I, the technologically-challenged one, have been successful in applying them. Although, hopefully you will see concretely if I have succeeded or not. :-) Looking forward to enjoying ripostes from fellow Hyborians! Valeria Spirit

Thank you for the welcome and the compliment, Von K.! (bows low)
Your avatar is also very cool. Who does it represent?
BTW, I've just ordered The Last Celt from nearfine books in the USA (I'm in Nova Scotia, Canada) and looking forward to receipt of a lot of Howard/Conan goodies that are winging their way to me, even as I write. :-)
Have a fine day!

Hi Valeria,
My avatar is Red Sonya, as drawn by Roy Krenkel.
The Last Celt - that's a great one.
All best

YAY! Thanks for the help, Buxom Sorceress! Rock on! Valeria Spirit Hi Valeria, well done. Lovely shiny avatar. I try to write good clear instructions for easy to follow help. [ when i write them, it always surprises me just how very many steps are invovled in each process: most internet menu composers need to take an urgent course in how to write better user-friendly, clearer, simpler, Menus. [ but that is a rant for another topic ] ] Enjoy your self here. Looking forward to reading more posts by you. > Please call me Bux [ or Buxom, or Sorceress, or Buxie [ as Deuce calls me ]] ?

Ah, I seem to remember Roy Krenkel's name from the days of fandom back in the 1960's. That is a great illustration! I've never read anything by Howard other than Conan, so I'm looking forward to expanding my horizons. But there was a time in the 1990's, I think, when Red Sonya the movie was shown often up here in Nova Scotia. Frankly, I didn't mind it, although it's not as good as Conan the Barbarian, I thought the relationship of Paul (?) Smith's servant to Ernie Reyes Jr.'s obnoxious brat was quite touching. Haven't seen it since, nor Conan the Destroyer. I may have to pony up for the BluRay discs, so as to have a complete collection of Arnold's barbarian oeuvre. :-) But enough of a digression! Again - thanks for the welcome! I look forward to becoming acquainted with everyone here! Valeria Spirit

Hi, Bux! (Obviously you're like me - call me anything, as long as it's not late for dinner! :-)) Yes, I find instructions often needlessly complex, and I have a real problem with anything that's digital as opposed to analog. I don't feel at ease with this Board format yet, but in some ways it seems pretty cool. I'm a listowner of a Bela Lugosi list and a co-moderator of a Lord of the Rings list, so I would definitely scope out whether it might be worth considering a change to this type of Board. I was always agin the idea, because of the convenience of having list messages delivered to my inbox, but it looks like you can do stuff with this that you can't do on Yahoogroups. I'm looking forward to perusing all of the threads here. I've had tons of questions. Many things about REH are somewhat controversial. Are there any restrictions on topics that can be posted? TTFN :-) Valeria Spirit

TTFN :-) Valeria Spirit Hey Valeria. You can open some new topics in our GENERAL DISCUSSIONS forum: I suggest some to start, for your interests [ and for your links ?]... FORUM SYSTEMS [ faves & help ] [ to discuss any recommended free forum systems, etc. ] LUGOSI & VAMPIRES [ many members are fans of them ] LORD O T RINGS & TOLKIEN [ many Tolkien fans here ] ==== ==== re - 'somewhat controversial things about REH' : before you open any 'wildly speculative' discussions here you should definitely read all the related topics about REH on our huge old paradox reh forum. tons of respectful discussion & wise info there. UNFORTUNATELY it is closed now, and being pruned and archived. you will get all the answers you want from those REH topics, later? [ we soon got very bored with any pointless wild speculations, of which there is no proof. ] ==== Restrictions ? Make sure you read the forum TERMS OF SERVICE [TOS] here. WOW, Bux!
Great stuff, which I won't repeat here. I'm off today to possibly bring home a new family member, in the form of a young female Pomeranian named Bridget, if all goes well and she gets along with my two gals, Tibetan Spaniels Holli and Alexis.
Will read through everything when I get back and will follow up with more.
How do I get to the Paradox archive/forum that you mentioned? Is that conan.com that I have seen referred to here?
TTFN :-)

<Edit for brevity> I wrote: "Soon to arrive in the mail are Two-Gun Bob, edited by Michael Moorcock, The Last Celt, Blood and Thunder, and Dark Valley Destiny by L. Sprague de Camp." I got that wrong. Michael Moorcock just wrote the Foreword to *Two-Gun Bob: A Centennial Study of Robert E. Howard*. The editor was Benjamin Szumskyj. Sorry for any confusion! Valeria Spirit

I am well known for frequently changing my 'magical' face. Best wishes. Hi, Bux! Yes, I realize I was going on at undue length about off-topic stuff, for which I apologize. If I was on an email discussion list, I would just label my email "OT" and let people choose to read or not, but in this format . . . well, if you look closely, you will see I have posted two messages under the Conan the Cimmerian thread, and I think I posted them in the correct locations. Juggling dogs is great exercise! So far so good . . . I will read Blood and Thunder as soon as I get it! I think your advice is well taken and thanks again for your help! I will visit your threads on female barbarians etc. in due course, and I'm looking forward to seeing them! :-) Stay well. Valeria Spirit
