I was kind of looking forward to this. I don't think is was as finished as Roger Corman's FF, so it's unlikely we'll even see this at conventions.

A couple of making-of videos from Kit Mallet's youtube, including the unlisted one, in case anyone hasn't seen them:

If you just showed me still images, I could actually tell it's Iron Shadows! Like I said above, I'm not sure if the film was fully completed, it sounded like the plug was pulled during post-production. If that's the case, there's not really any impetus for Kit to spend time and money finishing it. At least there's a silver lining now with the Amazon show that wasn't there when it got yanked.

Since it's gonna take a few years before we get to see the Cimmerian on screen again, or more likely decades. I cannot see a valid reason for not allowing the release of this movie, it's probably the only time we'll get to see an actual REH adaptation.

And exactly one year later...we're no better off than we were when the plug got pulled on the movie. I'm sure there are differences between printing a PD story with a trademarked character and filming and releasing that same story. Those differences are what got this film stopped.

What would the situation be if a say French or other European film-maker wanted to adapt Conan into film? These are the countries that have already adapted Conan into graphic novels without legal challenge... Could someone like Louis Letterier or Luc Besson make a Conan film in french without Cabinet Holdings storming the production?

I actually think Iron Shadows could be released now... as you mentioned comics are adapting the public domain stories...why not film?
Just change the name if necessary.

In that case, someone should contact Kit Mallet and suggest to him to look at the single option of getting legal advice about having his film released in Europe only. If Cabinet Holdings hasn't challenged the french comics companies over the graphic novel adaptations of the public domain Conan works (which are released with the word 'Conan' in the title) then perhaps we CAN get to see Mr Mallet's film...

This should be interesting, they will be having a chat with Pasi Schalin (Conan from Iron Shadows) over at the Fórum Conan o Bárbaro YouTube channel. The interview will be streamed live at 00:00 GMT on the 6th June 2021.
Chat with Pasi Schalin (Conan from Iron Shadows)
IRON SHADOWS – THE MOVIE | A mysterious and obscure Cimmerian film filmed in Thailand between 2013 and 2014. It had a screenplay based on "Iron Shadows of the Moon" by R.E.H.
The film was definitely “indie”, low-budget, if we compare it to Hollywood products and even by our Brazilian standards (something around 2 million dollars). Apparently, the movie stopped in pre-production.
It was directed by Kit Mallet and the screenplay was written by her sister Tonya Mallet. Both have some experience in the industry. Kit Mallet has worked on major productions such as 300, Watchmen, Iron Man (but not as a director, but as and directing action scenes), while his sister Tonya Mallet claimed to have read all of Howard's stories and consulted scholars on Howard's work. author from Texas, too (which doesn't mean quality if she doesn't have scripting talent). Production was in charge of George Tan (who had previously worked as a researcher on Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story).
Leading roles in the film featured Finnish actor and former hockey player Pasi Schalin and Czech model and actress Andrea Stefancikov.

Thanks, Hunnu. I hadn't seen that before. I still hope the movie will be leaked somewhere.
