Thanks Hun! Great stuff from Buscema there, and I never before knew the amazing Frank Brunner had drawn Conan.

There was The Scarlet Citadel adaptation by Roy Thomas & Frank Brunner and Frank Brunner's Bran Mak Morn portfolio. swordsofreh.proboards.com/thread/178/bran-mak-morn-art?page=2Thanks Von K.

Conan painting by Mike Grell. According to the description on Comicartfans this unpublished piece was intended to be used in the "Warriors" portfolio.

I picked-up a copy of Conan and the Sorcerer by Andrew J. Offutt. It's the Illustrated edition with the interior artwork of Esteban Maroto. This is the first pastiche I've purchased in years, I usually stumble across the Lancer/Ace/Sphere editions and have resisted picking them up for ages. But, if I purchase a book with a Sanjulian cover with Maroto illustrations how can I resist the next time I find a Conan Book with a Frazetta cover? Anyways, here's the cover. (I'll try to scan a couple of Maroto illustrations, the paperback is a bit fragile, it'll probably fall apart)

Had a little look online and found a couple of pics from the book - mainly of Isparana. Here's one with Conan and Isparana.

Does anyone have a scan of Conan 'the pirate-one' by Esteban Maroto from The Black Stranger (Treasure of Tranicos)? I remember it was up on the old forum, I think.

Some fine scenes, sorcery and action. Maybe it's just me, but I picked up a real joy between the lines, as if the author was having a total blast writing about a character he loved. And the Maroto work in this volume is some of the best I've seen from the artist.

And the Maroto work in this volume is some of the best I've seen from the artist. I remember reading the SSOC adaptation, it was kinda disappointing. I have not read any of Offutt's actual pastiche work beyond the 2 stories adapted in the SSOC (Conan and the Sorcerer 53-55 and The Sword of Skelos 56-58). But, when I found this copy down Charing Cross Road I could not resist the beautiful illustrations by Estaban Maroto. I'll have to hunt down the other books with Maroto's art now, oh dear, I guess I'm in trouble.
