Kinda surprised there's not a thread on this stuff. It's one of the biggest franchises around and was a MASSIVE gamble (let's put it this way, it's what finally allowed them to regain the prominence they had before the nineties brought them to the brink.)
My favorites are.....
the Captain America movies:
I don't know why, but I rather loved First Avenger. The star spangled man with a plan was downright funny in it's glorious cheesiness and I LOVED the camaraderie Steve has with the others. It does what it should; it shows you the man Cap is, and really gets you to connect with him and care. My problems were that Red Skull was kinda a brute. He's to open and in your face with his evil. Granted he's terrifying and Weaving is great but I preferred Alexander Pierce and Arnim Zola.
Winter Soldier is downright awesome, showing the balls to change the world big time and murdering the status quo.
Civil War was also phenomenal. Zemo is a tragic villain who in many other movies would be an action hero you'd root for. And he wins, sort of. He's in jail, but the Avengers have been split.
Iron Man 1: In some ways it's a little dated but it's aged well. Robert Downey Jr is great and it does a GREAT job of introducing Tony to those who never read a comic.
Avengers 1: What can I say? The final battle is AWESOME and worth the payoff.

The most important part of each film has been not only casting the correct actors for their roles, but allowing them to create these characters as individuals. Sure some are more developed than others (Jeremy Renner has been particularly under utilized thus far), but looking at the casting of Downey, Hemsworth, Evans, Johansson (they really thought Emily Blunt for her, really?), on down to Pratt and Rudd and hopefully Cumberbatch will add into this, they've found the right actor to correctly embody the role (insert your Haley Atwell "embody" joke here). Oddly enough, the villains have been lacking here and there, there hasn't been a Joker-caliber one yet (take your pick: Nicholson, Ledger, Hamill). As a whole, the Captain America films have been the best overall, the Thor ones the weakest. But so far they've been worth the wait and I look forward to how they'll keep putting the pieces together.

Zemo was great. In most movies he'd be the action hero we like.
Thor had good parts. Loki was sublime and thor's development good. Thor 2 had a lake villain but kickass final battle
Guardians was awesome too.

Hiddleston is definitely the most successful of the villains in the MCU, no one's even close.
The Thor movies were the weakest but I still liked them a whole lot more than I thought I would. On paper, adding Kat Dennings to the films certainly didn't look like a good move (add in she's always in baggy clothing too!), but she was able to do something with the "comic relief" role that didn't detract from the story. Ragnorok seems like it's going to be a completely different animal altogether with the Hulk along for the ride.

Just got done with Civil War (so glad the Disney stuff is over on Netflix now) and they made a pretty daring choice: make a superhero movie where just about everyone is wrong. Tony Stark is wrong for thinking a piece of paper is going to take care of his proper concern about protecting people. Steve Rogers is wrong for pushing everything and everyone aside to protect Bucky from the consequences of his situation (I don't want to say actions because of the whole brainwashing thing). Everyone else then has to make their decisions based on the two protagonists and as they say, if you start down the wrong road, you're probably not going to end up in the right place. The bad guy won this time around (as LY mentioned above, he's not the same kind of bad guy he is in the comics, he's somewhat sympathetic), the only good guy that ends up OK is T'Challa since he decides against revenge in that circumstance.
Can't decide if I want to wait for Dr. Strange on Netflix or go ahead and pick up the Blu ray (have to wait until mid April anyway thanks to Lent).

After watching that I wonder: how did they get the Hulk into his gladiator gear? I mean, I kinda doubt he'd stop to dress himself when he's angry. So who had that unlucky job?

The Thor trailer has a real 1980's Flash Gordon feel and vibe going on. Looks like good comic book fun!
