I'm trying to think of anything this big since...well, since. The old fashioned, all star extravaganza, but this one acts as a sequel to about 15 different pictures.

This will probably sound really nitpicky, but it drives me nuts how the movies try to keep the characters from wearing any headgear at all (the worst was probably Spider-Man 2, in which Spidey yanked his mask off almost every time he spoke a line). I know - they don't want to hide the actors' faces - but seeing Thanos's face is just...weird. Has his full-on above-the-chin face EVER been shown in the comics? And it took me a few moments to realize that was Captain America since he wasn't wearing his cowl.

I think there was one story (I want to say Thanos Quest) where he was walking around in a toga for a few pages. And yeah it looked as weird as he does in the trailer. And a couple of people have mentioned the aversion to headgear. When they’ve worn it, I think it looks fine

I think the eyes of Thanos do not seem right. From what I remember, in the old comics anyway, his eyes were not visible they were always in shadow. He'd have the good ol' glint in his eye on occasion - that signified that it's time to run cos Thanos has already outfought and outthought his adversary/opponent. Last page of the Infinity Gauntlet 6. Thanos with no headgear.

Yes, I think it's the eyes that are the issue there. That's what really threw me.
The villain issue isn't just a superhero movie thing. There are virtually no good movie villains anymore in any genre because they either come from really tired stereotypes ("Hey, another action movie about Russian mobsters/evil businessmen/former Cold Warriors!") or it's all about denying the concept of evil in favor of villains who are sympathetic because it turns out the heroes somehow screwed them over in the past ("Dammit, it's our fault after all! If only we had been more enlightened in the past! The true villain is Us!"). I watched the new Thor movie last week and it's certainly entertaining (easily the best of the Thor movies), but as good as Cate Blanchett is, Hela is yet another case of a villain who's basically the Asgardian equivalent of the "CIA/MI6 blowback" concept. "She did what her country asked of her...until it wasn't convenient anymore and they tried to bury her. NOW SHE'S BACK!" She's the freaking death goddess - she doesn't need some kind of colonialist/betrayed soldier backstory to justify her actions.

There's a "thrill of evil" that's lost in a story when one realizes that the "villain" is just some lost, hurt, little child who just wants to be loved (or whatever other "nuanced" reason they throw at you). The threat level goes WAY down.

Sometimes tragic bad guys work; Magneto is one of the best comic book bad guys PERIOD and Doctor Doom is as well despite having virtues to balance out his cruelty. It's a balancing act in that sometimes villains who are evil.
Also Hela worked in the themes (that Asgard was built on lies and murder and denying the past is wrong); hell Winter Soldier just has straight up bad guys. But even then the film acknowledges that the villains are still villains even if they have their reasons for their actions. That's not a bad thing

The funny part is the FF is still partially entangled by that unreleased Corman film from 1994. However I think they should be able to find some kind of *ahem* arrangement to take care of things. Maybe this is what Feige was talking about how everything changes with Phase 4...

So we have a Black Panther trailer for next month, Avengers for May, Ant Man for July...say does Disney have another movie coming out May that still needs a trailer? Heck just a solo one...
Watched GotG2 a couple of weeks ago, enjoyed it. Didn't think it was "just the same movie all over again".
