I think you're probably right. I just feel that it would have been better if Cullen Bunn had developed at least some of the hints found in the 'Devil of Iron' throughout the first story arc. Excellent point, Hun! I always find intrigue, character development, and hidden motives to make much more compelling story telling than zombie fights. Any chance to get more Howard material involved is always going to be great reading. Zombies are so popular in fiction now; their appearance doesn't surprise me. Thankfully Bunn handled this fill in story well, so I still found portions of the arc entertaining so far. It has been pretty good so far, but, Bunn will either have to introduce those elements in the next issue - or, add them into the adaptation of 'Devil of Iron' and dilute Howard's original yarn. Do I really wanna read an adaptation like that? No.

I think if he's doing 6 issues it might have more time. I think part of it is set up. In any case Witch was actually a pretty good adaptation. The scenes that were added (Conan's time with Olgerd) serve the plot and develop things a lot. So I think Devil will be the same. Issues 1-2 are buildup, issues 3-6 are the actual story.

Just picked this issue up and read it a couple of times on the way home.
Not bad...
Oksana, looks like she has the potential to be the new Red Sonya/Dark Agnes/Janissa.
Could Oksana be coming back on the Roy Thomas/Tom Grindberg run?

One thing I liked; they don't tie up the loose ends immediately. The hooded figure is still out there and presumably plotting dastardly deeds.
I also like that Conan's self doubt makes sense. He got his men killed, and the boy he was in charge of protection died because of him. It looks like Conan facing his survivor's guilt is going to be a recurring issue, and regaining his faith in himself. Unlike in Queen of the Black Coast it made sense.
