One thing I always loved about the old board was learning about new subjects. I'm glad to see it has carried over to the Swords of REH, too. Looking forward to reading more about Evpaty Kolovrat. Thanks, guys!

Russian audiences seem to have fallen in love with the good ol' Historical Epic movies. This movie will be released later this year, I think. Zolotaya Orda (Golden Horde) trailer
This is a google translation taken from the original description in Russian - so, it's probably completely wrong The end of the XIII century. Ancient Rus under the yoke of the Mongol-Tatars. Grand Duke Yaroslav dreams of uniting disparate Russian princedoms and throwing off the hated yoke, but his enemies along this path are his own brother - the disgraced prince Boris, and the eldest son Vladimir. The messenger of the Golden Horde - Tengri-Temir, a handsome man and a connoisseur of female beauty - arrives in the capital of Russia. He came to hijack thousands of Russian soldiers in the Horde, but he is ready to be content with only a part if the Grand Duke gives him Princess Ustin, Boris's wife. Yaroslav is not ready to violate the laws of Faith and Honor, but Boris himself is taking this step, hoping that this sacrifice will provide him with a princely throne. Ustinha with a caravan goes to a foreign land.

Ustinha with a caravan goes to a foreign land.Turns out Golden Horde is a 16 episode TV series. I also managed to find a better description in English (I have provided the link below). The end of the XIII-th century. Ancient Russia is under Tatar-Mongol yoke. Grand Prince Yaroslav dreams to unite the scattered Russian principalities and get rid of the hated Tataro-Mongols, but his own brother - the disgraced Prince Boris - and his eldest son Vladimir stand in the way. Tengri-Temir, an envoy of the Golden Horde, arrives in the capital of Russia - a handsome man and a true connoisseur of feminine beauty. He's come to take a thousand of Russian soldiers to the Horde but is ready to accept half of the deal, if only the Grand Prince will give him Ustinya, wife of Boris. Yaroslav is not ready to break the laws of faith and honor, but Boris himself agrees to go for it hoping this sacrifice will open a way to the throne for him. Ustinya leaves her homeland with a caravan... Tengri leaves a present for Yaroslav from the Great Khan - the young Nargiz who reanimates the Prince and puts him before a fatal choice. On the one hand there is love and passion, on the other hand - the throne and life of Nargiz herself who is not welcome neither by the people, nor by the wife of Yaroslav. Meanwhile, Berke, the Great Khan of the Horde, feels the presence of death and desperately dreams of a heir. In the steppe he meets the daughter of a whealty merchant, 16-year-old Ayzhan. The old man, being cruel and mentally ill, makes Ayzhan his third wife. It seems that beautiful Ayzhan's life ends with the very last moment of the wedding, but a young artist Nikolka, who's been brought to the Horde among with Tengri-Temir's caravan, is ready to give his life for freedom and a kiss from a beautiful outlander...marsme.ru/en/project-zolotaya-orda

Looks like Russian-language and English-subtitled DVD versions of the film are available from Amazon US/UK/Canada/Australia. ...... I might just get this one along with 'Furious: Legend of Kolovrat' since both are subtitled in English. I dislike language voice overs, I would rather the actors speak in their own language and just read the subtitles since I feel you get something more out of it in terms of impact.

I've yet to watch The Last Warrior but managed to get it at Walmart for fairly cheap. Came across another Russian S&S flick called Wolfhound. It's one of the films highlighted in this top ten list from 2011: m.quietearth.us/?id=5688

Watched the Scythian/ The Last Warrior last night and damn was that good. It was bloody and dark with even some low fantasy elements. The visuals and stylistic choices were so spot on. Both leads were quite good, too. One of the best flicks I've seen in a long time.
