I've been regoing over the Numenor material from the Lost Road, you have to sort of pick your way through it with the time travel material so it'll be nice to have this all in one place in a linear fashion. Will be doing another "John shows books" podcast when this comes out.

Just got my delivery from Amazon, very thick even though it's only 300 pges, lots of Lee drawings. Laid out basically along the lines of Tales of Years with Brian filling in the info about each event along the way.

Did not pick it up, but the book is beautifully designed, with some great black and white illustrations by Alan Lee.

Finished listening to Book 1 of the Two Towers after completing the Fellowship of the Ring. Andy Serkis is going to spoil me, he's a peerless narrator. He throws his voice to resemble his film co-stars and it's great.
I had read Book 1 of Two Towers before seeing the film many years ago, but this was an interesting experience. I think the movie's depiction of the Battle of Helm's Deep was more epic in scope than the book. I was surprised how quickly it was over while listening to it.
Now I'm on Book 2 with Frodo and Sam... I'm just going with it and hoping Boromir's brother and Shelob show up soon.

I believe he is working on a recording of the Silmarillion next. Should be interesting.

Finished Serkis' reading of Two Towers and it rocked. I never experienced the second book with Sam and Frodo before. The book is far better than the film. No endless walking, no Osgiliath stop, and an overall faster pace.
Going to download Return of the King next.

The History of Middle-Earth books are so wonderful, they make LotR that much richer.

The History of Middle-Earth books are so wonderful, they make LotR that much richer. Looking to pick up the back part of the series over the summer. Need to start with Sauron Defeated since I have the History of LOTR box of volumes with the thin End of the Third Age.

Wasn't quite sure where best to post this. This is one of Jason's older Pulp Crazy vids that was recently featured in DMR Books Links of Steel:
No, Robert E. Howard did not inspire J. R. R. Tolkien

TolkienI did a quick a debunk in my transition from Tolkien to Howard on the podcast, but only spent 90 seconds on it. This is far more informative! :-) Unfortunately my project of getting the podcast onto video has been pushed back due to a delay in my pension which has caused all kinds of problems. Been an extremely stressful time which has really wrecked plans for the rest of the year. Hoping to get those resolved as soon as today.
