Nice, this may be the most appropriate cover yet.

As I suspected. They're stretching out Iron shadows over 6 issues or so. The first two are background information that sets the stage for the main story

I reread the opening of the Devil In Iron last night and it looks like they will be doing that. #7 will probably have Jehungir Agha trying to trap Conan with the meat of the story starting in #8. The part with the fisherman at the start of the story may show up somewhere in #7, I think it would actually make a good end of issue interlude. Cullen may end up doing something like what Tim did with Black Colossus, spreading bits and pieces of the story through 6 issues while the main part of the story only really takes up 3 or 4.

That was a genius approach on his part (Tim Truman's). I think the same approach could work for Devil.

I prefer this over the constant three-issue story arcs, one right after the other, that limited the comic somewhat recently.
Great cover too!

Damned Horde was a good arc that lasted 6 issues

Damned Horde was a good arc that lasted 6 issues Right, but I'm mainly referring to the Brian Wood run where every story arc was crammed into 3 issues.. I'm glad to see more story arcs that are lasting longer than that.

Agreed. They could have worked on paper. The issue was that they focused on extraneous horsecrap; if it had been a three issue arc of things like Abombi or Khmer rather than "Conan and Belit get high in Ophir" or "Conan goes to Shem in a pointless arc that goes nowhere" I wouldn't have complained

I'm wondering why there was a month delay
Edit: Out of curiosity I've done some checking.
Dark Horse will be releasing 26 issues this month, 18 in February (that we know of), 26 in March.
Bookwise the TPB version of Conan the Avenger Witch is coming out on the 11th. It's....actually sublime. The art works for once and it's a solid adaptation. The final Marvel Reprint is coming out in March. The first 6 issues of Slayer will be in TPB form in April and the Second Omnibus in May.

The April solicits came out today and I panicked a second when I didn't see a Conan issue there. Then I remembered THIS is the April issue now. So I guess they'll catch up by May.

I just noticed: #7 is currently slated for March 22, #8 for April 12 and #9 for April 26. So it goes from "bi-monthly" to "bi-weekly"! #10 is slotted in for May 31, so there's 5 weeks of play for them to slide things down if needed...but I hope not.

That's....only two weeks after 8's new release date.
Honestly from what I've seen Dark Horse took a pretty solid beating in February. Elf quest is presumably going to end next year (it's called "the final quest"), and at this point their main breadwinners are Joss Whedon and Alien. Conan's actually selling pretty well compared to most other titles even with the drop so that's good
