I do appreciate your honesty.
I guess we'll have to disagree on this one.

Not a good sign when you need a fill-in to finish a story that was pushed back for a few months.

Be prepared for this one to possibly slip. No issue for September was solicited. Either that or they're waiting to get a few issues stored up before soliciting more.

Make that more than a few, no solicit for October either.

I'm not sure just yet. A part of me thinks not all the october solicits are out (same with September). In may it sold more than Angel Season 11 (and usually that's a pretty popular title.)
In some ways DH can't afford to lose Conan. It has a dedicated fanbase (even when there was a shuffle over release dates very few dropped it) and in todays market they kinda need that. It's not their highest hitter but it's steady enough as income.
Although I am curious what the fuck happened in 2010 to make things go downhill

Those were the full October solicits, and stores had to have their orders in for September already so nothing new is going to slip out there. I do think it's a matter of getting issues done, then soliciting them to avoid a repeat of this situation. Whatever happened, it seems to have taken them by surprise.
Back on the old boards, blogger Zack Davisson did yeoman's work talking to Brian Wood and people at DH to get to what their thinking was behind the whole shift in focus. We know what they wanted to do (and it matched up with what was printed in the letter pages by the editors practically word for word), but there was really never a good explanation as to the why and maybe there never will be. The company decided to go in a different direction and that's that as far as the general public is concerned, which is par for the course.

CONAN THE SLAYER #12www.darkhorse.com/Comics/30-778/Conan-the-Slayer-12#prettyPhotoJehungir Agha's plan to ambush Conan in the dead city of Xapur goes awry when his men encounter the enraged demon Khosatral Khel, who seeks the Cimmerians blood. But Agha's plight may be the break Conan needs to turn the tables on the Devil in Iron! CREATORS Writer: Cullen Bunn Artist: Dheeraj Verma Colorist: Michael Atiyeh Cover Artist: Phroilan Gardner? (obviously pencilled by Tom Grindberg) Publication Date: August 23, 2017 Price: $3.99 Don't know a thing about Dheeraj Verma, the artist for this issue, but, here's some of his Conan artwork I found online: My advice is don't waste your time/hard earned money buying this mediocre adaptation. Pick up a copy of Savage Sword of Conan 15, it'll cost you less. I tend to agree. How many adaptions of Devil in Iron do we need?
Won't stop me from buying though...I am compelled by some unholy geas to buy any Conan comic offered....

No Conan title from DH for the second month running ! Are they just leaving it until the WW cross-over is done?

I guess they'll probably start a new 12 issue series for the next adaptation. It probably works out better sales wise, rather than continuing the series till issue 25 - by then Conan will probably be selling around the 5,000 mark.

Admittedly that makes sense. Bunn said they were adapting two conan tales but honestly I think they erred back in 2013 having Fred's initial take be Black Circle. I think it should have been one of the less well known tales (like Pool of the Black One).

Anything's possible at this point. Don't know if they'd hold the main series because of the crossover, based on the reactions here, I'm not sure it's aimed at the same audience.
They did put themselves in a bit of a conundrum with the whole Black Circle situation. Thing is if they don't do it now (doing Shadows in Zamboula instead), they will almost certainly have to do it next unless they plan on skipping it altogether opting for the mini being their version of it.

I remember back in '04 when DH's Conan was still new and fresh, and I looked forward to it every month. Now I just wonder where it all went south. How low will sales have to get before they just let the license lapse and Conan gets picked up by IDW or Dynamite.

Based on what IDW is doing with Kull, NOOOO!!!!!!
There's no indication DH is anywhere near giving up on the license. It's lower than it was, but solidly in the middle of their monthly releases.
Anyone wanna start a "Conan goes south....and I don't mean Kush!" thread?
