Saor Patrol -- pronounced roughly like "sayer" or "sire" -- is "Scotland's Leading Medieval Rock Band." They counted amongst their fans the late, lamented and legendary Lemmy Kilmister. They're not just musicians. They're also kilt-deep in the Duncarron project which is building a medieval Highland fortress in north Lanarkshire. To top it off, they're also members of Combat International, serving as extras in movies like Gladiator and Macbeth. His Kidnapped illustrations were some of his very best, like this one of Alan in the Round-House. ......
Wyeth is great. Here is Howard Pyle's take on the battle of the roundhouse.

Kail has posted other links regarding this recently... Great post on Simon "the Fox" Fraser: frontierpartisans.com/11709/the-more-mischief-the-better-sport/Fraser, the 11th Lord Lovat, was one of the most colourful scoundrels in Scottish history. He was the last man to be beheaded in Britain...and he laughed as the headsman swung the fatal blow. Fraser as depicted in the Outlander TV series.
