The final duel in Rob Roy is a favorite of mine. Guts, determination and not giving in to expectations - winning over an over-confident dastard....

I'd love to see what Jim would write about the Missouri Guerillas, esp if he knows anything more than I could find about the 'border roll' (gun trick used by Josey Wales in the movie), which is said to have originated with them. Apparently they used to ride into combat with a pistol in each hand and the reins between their teeth, firing as they charged. Now there's some off-hand shootin' for ya...

Jim C posts about the Ten Bears scene from the Outlaw Josey Wales: frontierpartisans.com/7304/iron-words/Imho, that’s about the best scene in a movie full of great scenes, and the movie version is very close to the book. Clint Eastwood himself said: Incidentally, in the follow up book Vengeance Trail of Josey Wales, one of Josey’s companions, Chato, is a vaquero, and there are some nice sequences featuring the Apache and Geronimo.

Jim Cornelius at Frontier Partisans is firing up a Kickstarter for his non-fiction collection, Warriors of the Wildlands: There's a great vidoe from Jim at the link. He's a hard-core REH fan and a fine writer. I hope y'all support this project.

Roger Zelazny and Gerald Hausman wrote an interesting (historical fiction) book about John Colter's escape as well as Hugh Glass' legendary crawl back from near death (See movie "Revenant"). It alternates chapters between the two and in the end cleverly ties them together. www.amazon.com/Wilderness-Roger-Zelazny/dp/1617203696

Thanks for the tip. I never knew Zelazny wrote anything besides science fiction and fantasy.

The hope the designer Lynn Woodward enjoys her trip to Mongolia. Who am I kidding, I know she's gonna love it there, it's an incredible country with incredible people.
