I like the tavern/inn scenes in these old B&W magazines,Great art and packed with details.REH should've written more tales like "Right Hand of Doom" and "Rattle of Bones". Fun little stories with noir-like atmosphere.
Incidentally I've finished The Saga of Solomon Kane a couple of hours ago and it was great. The Kane vs Conan crossover wasn't great IMO due to the heavily shaded art but the rest are good. The poem adaptations are my favorite, beautiful art by David Wenzel,Nestor Redondo etc, and they always focused on Solomon as a character compared to the short stories.Dracula crossover was good too but the Prince of Darkness was heavily nefed, should've been a life or death situation for the Puritan.

I think its very very tough for an artist to match the artistry in Howards words. For some reason Conan is more adaptable to comics? I think Kane is a bit tougher when creating the pictures

Wenzel is underrated, IMO, and one of the few artists to adapt the works of both REH and JRRT into comics.

Succinct review. I am also not a big fan of the B&W adaptation of "Wings in the Night". The color version was much better and that too was done by Wenzel is it not? Or was it Howard Chaykin?

Coming soon...
Solomon Kane: the Original Marvel Years Omnibus HC collects Marvel Premiere (1972) #33–34, Solomon Kane (1986) #1-6; material from Conan Saga (1987) #50, Dracula Lives (1973) #3, Kull and the Barbarians (1975) #2-3, Marvel Preview (1975) #19, Savage Sword of Conan (1974) #13–14, 18–20, 22, 25, 26, 33, 34, 37, 39, 41, 53, 54, 62, 83, 162, 169, 171, 219-220
It'll be appearing the Marvel Hachette catalog, then it'll either show up with the January or February solicits.
Edit-A poster elsewhere noted Monsters Unleashed #1 was missing (Skulls in the Stars). Hopefully it's just an oversight. They wouldn't compile every single issue ever done at Marvel but leave out the first one.
Edit 2-It's there. Poor Garuda over on the MMW site is watching Omar's video on Youtube and doing a transcription of sorts of the new books and has to go back every now and then and update.

I've just started re-reading Dark Horse's SAGA OF SOLOMON KANE. I have to say, I absolutely love the crossovers with Conan and Dracula, I consider them part of my personal Kane head-canon. Does anyone else?
One thing that disappoints me slightly is that Marvel never expanded on the unfinished Kane stories The Children of Asshur and Hawk of Basti.

Roy's still writing, it'd be a case of finding an artist and doing it in color or B&W...OK these days, it's likely to be just the first of these.

I've been reading through the Tomb of Dracula Complete Collections, and came across the Solomon Kane crossover in Dracula Lives #3. Quite good on the whole, and a pleasant surprise. I knew Kane met Dracula during the Marvel years, but didn't know the exact issue.

Does the above "Saga of Soloman Kane" feature the same material as Dark Horses "The Chronicles of Soloman Kane" TPB? www.darkhorse.com/Books/16-371/The-Chronicles-of-Solomon-Kane-TPB#prettyPhoto

Short version: Chronicles-color issues, Saga-B&W issues. If you can snag the Marvel one, you get both in one.
