Rogue Blades Entertainment is looking for stories for three anthologies...and coming up short: roguebladesentertain.wixsite.com/roguebladespresents/blog/sub-stats-3-are-you-talkin-ta-meThis is just wrong. RBE is one of the top/best quality publishers of Sword & Sorcery for the last 10+yrs. They were in a lull/stopped publishing for awhile, but Jason Waltz is a discerning editor and easy to work with. He shouldn't be waiting on submissions. Get to work, y'all.

Straight historical adventure, no fantastical elements, around 9,000 words. Accepting submissions until the fall of 2018, so plenty of time still. Now to channel some REH and Harold Lamb...

I think I might have another Crusader (or pirate-Crusader) tale in me. To the word mines!

"I don't get nearly as much sword and sorcery as I would like. I get lots of D&D style fiction, but I don't publish that."
-- Doug Draa, editor of WeirdbookDoug features one or two S&S tales an issue. The issue I read (#36) had two and they were both good, fun reads. Doug used to be a regular on the Old Forum before editing WB took up all his time.

Which means anyone who wants to submit should write a story or two over the summer, pick your best, polish it and have it ready. I'm reading issue #38 myself right now.

The Kickstarter for Guilds & Glaives from ZNB Press: Howard Andrew Jones and David Farland/Dave Wolverton, among others, are confirmed authors on this project. Looks cool. The Kickstarter is almost done, so get in there while you can! If the project makes goal, then that will also open up submissions for more authors (one of whom could be you). An update on the G&G project: www.howardandrewjones.com/news/guilds-glaives

That's a very well executed cover.
Especially for a modern one.

The first Brak story, "Devils in the Walls", as it was originally published in Fantastic Stories in 1962. As I recall, Jakes said the cover artist invented the iconic "lion-tail loincloth" and Jakes adopted it for future tales. The story itself is one of my personal favorites in the Brak canon.

Jason M. Waltz isn't just a fine editor and publisher of sword & sorcery, he's also a pretty good author of it as well. Two of his tales of Direk are free on Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B01DO1ZAQK/ref=cm_sw_r_fa_dp_U_RruXAbW91N9AAI just grabbed this last night and read them right away (they're short). The stories really emphasize the bloody action, though there's good characterization and worldbuilding as well. Direk reminds me somewhat of a combo of Frazetta's Death Dealer, Elric, and Glen Cook's Swordbearer, but the character is definitely his own beast. Check 'em out, they're free (for now)! If you don't like 'em, you can always delete.

Ishtar's Eyeballs, but that looks even better than I hoped it would. Great cover, great line-up. Elak, Thongor, Imaro and more. Ordered. It will soon be mine. Hey, can someone with savvy post a nice image of the cover here on the forum? It's a Gorgeous Bruce Timm original that broadcasts Sword & Sorcery Power like eldritch radiation.
