Great news. Almost exactly the creative team I was hoping for. It would be nice to have Ribic doing the internal art as well but at least we should get some good covers. I've enjoyed Aaron's work on Wolverine and Thor and think he's a good fit for Conan. No strong feelings about the artist, we'll see how he does. The plans for the 12 issue arc are informative as well, sounds like they don't intend to adapt any REH stories and are going entirely pastiche for the first year at least (unless they incorporate some REH tales into the 12 issues).

I was hoping it would be Jason Aaron! This is some damn good news, indeed. I enjoyed his Thor comics in the past and will definitely be picking up this first arc.
This is a great way to get people into Conan, I like the idea of it expanding his entire life, should be a nice event if handled properly.
That's cool that he posted the old school paperbacks, but yeah, hopefully someone gave him some copies of the Del Rey's, too. I'm not expecting pure REH, but good REH pastiche, and I'm confident Aaron can do that.
The art looks pretty solid, too. Especially those recent images of Red Sonja. I think Marvel's smart enough to not have this be skinny Conan.

Update on Jason Aaron's paperback collection. He does have the Del Reys... "For those asking, yep, I got all these too. Big REH fan here.

Well, at least he's read the original and pastiches so he knows what's been done (and overdone). Still not totally sold on it. I keep getting the feeling Marvel's new Conan could be Brian Woods amped up to eleven. I want to be wrong. I really, really want to be wrong.

Oh, good! For a moment there, I thought we were in trouble.

I keep getting the feeling Marvel's new Conan could be Brian Woods amped up to eleven. I want to be wrong. I really, really want to be wrong. Nothing can be worse than the Brian Wood run. Can it? I'm definitely tempted by the Barry Windsor-Smith CtB omnibus. I'll have to wait and see about the new series - there'll be 3 Conan books by Marvel, so, there should be at least one series that will appeal to old and new fans alike. I hope. Another thing that will be necessary is consistency in the main Conan book, the team of Aaron and Asrar need to stick around for a while and develop their own take on the character and his world. From what I can ascertain they both love Conan and/or REH. That's a good start

Well, it looks fairly promising so far. I'll definitely be giving this a shot. I'm glad to see that he has Del Rey editions for Howard's other characters too - not just Conan.
