The problem with the 2011 Conan was that my expectations where so damn high. I wanted a masterpiece. I wanted the be-all, end-all, amazing Conan film. And, barring that, I wanted a minimum of something on the scale of Lord of the Rings. Instead, I got a popcorn action flick. Just a regular movie. My appreciation for the 2011 film has grown since it came out. I actually like it. And, if you compare it to other popcorn action flicks that came out around the same time, before, and since, it measure up pretty well. 2011 Conan is at least as good (and usually much better) than all of these films, imo... <snip> I came away from the film disappointed in the Conan aspect of the story. However, it was a pretty decent S&S film all the same. If they'd just created a new lead we would have said, 'Hey, great Conan inspired film.' Funny. Same thing could be (and has been) said about a certain film from 1982. . .

I picked up issue #1 and it wasn't too bad. The first issue deals with the Greek Goddess of the Night and she seems to be the main foe in this mini series.
I figured I'd give it a try to see how they will handle Conan in the main Marvel timeline, and because I always enjoy a good Hercules book.
One thing I will say is that the art is excellent.

I had a look at this issue at the comic shop. It looks OK - I'll probably wait till issue 6 with Conan and Scarlet Witch before I pick this up. Hopefully I can resist picking up the first 5 issues I like the look of SEAN IZAAKSE's art for the 6th issue.

Haven't thought about this one. Thinking more the Savage Avengers. The Scarlet Witch in the Hyborian Age....well, she is a sorceress of sorts. They should make Conan and Wanda lovers, but Marvel will chicken out of that one. Have to admit, Sean Izaakse's art looks good, and in black & white.

I will definitely pass on this one. No doubt. Can't stand these silly crossovers.

Another variant cover, this one by Alex Ross: A little nod to Gil Kane there in the Conan figure, if I'm not mistaken. ...... Yeah, I think it's this one: It'd be nice to see an original Conan cover by Alex Ross.

A major new hero to Marvel Comics makes their debut in ‘Avengers: No Road Home’ #5... In a bit of quick thinking, Voyager uses her teleportation powers to send Scarlet Witch far away...How far away? To a place where thieves kill and do worse to travelers on the road. Scarlet Witch is dazed, but thankfully she has a protector scare off the criminals. Who might that be? Conan the freaking Barbarian! It appears Voyager has sent Scarlet Witch to Cimmeria or at least somewhere near Conan’s home town. How Voyager sent her to another universe (or is it a different dimension?) and why Conan’s realm is beyond me. We’ll have to find out with issue #6! That is only part of the story. I highly recommend you read the full issue as it’s quite entertaining. words by David Brooke www.adventuresinpoortaste.com/2019/03/13/a-major-new-hero-to-marvel-comics-makes-their-debut-in-avengers-no-road-home-5/
