I will be happy to see the new books from Perilous Worlds if they are ever published, but I will be surprised if it actually happens.

I have heard from a reliable source that the books are going to see the light of day, but various issues (not just Covid) have resulted in delays. We simply have to be patient. Meanwhile, I still have some John Maddox Roberts pastiche books yet to read!

Guys, don't get discouraged over this. The books they were ready to put out looked like a half-assed amateur hour press was publishing it. The books looked so bad. That was disrespectful to the author and the character. It's in far better hands now, but it has resulted in us having to wait so the job can be done professionally.
I'm not a shill for Conan Properties, I've taken them to task a lot when it comes to the comics and how they are using the character, but this was a good move to pull these back.

First off, thanks to you guys for continuing to have interest in my Conan work. I admit this has been such a long and luckless road that at times I have lost interest myself. LOTUS appeared 25 years ago and LIVING PLAGUE, written immediately afterward, has been on the absolute verge of publication twice. Hell, the last time around it was actually printed—- but turned out so poorly that the print run was destroyed.
Here's what I know: They’re still trying to set up a publisher for new REH pastiche, my books included. This process was slow to begin with and the pandemic hasn’t moved it along any quicker. They want to hook up with a professional, experienced publisher with global reach. Last I heard they’d were in tentative talks with someone. I have no idea how far along this is or even what kind of results we might have if it all works out. I hope for the best but try not to think about it much. At this stage I just hope LIVING PLAGUE gets some kind of publication before I punch out.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the info Mr. Hocking! It has to be incredibly frustrating from your perspective, but certainly not unknown to authors everywhere. I’m pretty confident that things will work out eventually, and I dearly hope Living Plague will see the light of day soon. Hope you are doing well and still working away on other projects; I very much enjoy your non-Conan work!

Every time I enter a used book store, I have the vain hope that I will find this pastiche staring me down from atop a bookshelf. Will my quest be interminable?

Well you know the saying "no news is good news"? It seems the opposite for anything Cabinet were involved with LOL. Hopefully Funcom will pull their fingers out and get it reissued for you soon!

I wondered why you didn't just buy it online somewhere, checked it on abebooks and found out why haha The German version is like 5€, so I won't complain.

Assuming that you're in the US and you just want to read the story, there's a copy on Amazon right now for less than $5.50. amzn.to/3ar91Np

I've got two copies, if those prices are real I'm almost tempted to offer one up to the river
