With the news of Conan the slayer I think it's safe to assume that the two stories of devil in iron and shadows in zamboula are on the docket. Once that happens the only stories left will be
Black Stranger Black River Red Nails Pool of the Black One Drums of Tombalku Vale of Lost Women
Than there's MAYBE the Prince Wazir wrap up (Conan's final fight with Thoth) and Truman's CONAN OF THE ISLES and Conan becoming King.
How should the series proceed?
I'd have it that if Slayer does well enough (i.e sales are stable) Dark Horse has Truman and Giorello do a two year long adaptation of the "Black and Red" Trilogy. We get two of the greatest Conan stories knocked out by a legend, a pretty good conan story knocked out by a legend, and we're closer to the endgame. The series after Slayer can knock out Pool Vale and Drums, and if those are profitable enough we can maybe have the story of how Conan becomes King, the Isles, or the final battle between Conan and Thoth.

By my calculations a black and red trilogy with 6 issues each would be 23 months

there was about a three month gap between issues for hour of the dragon and conquerer. Truman's passion might get them through the first one easily but depending on how difficult adapting is it may be hard

There would have to be a little expansion to get Conan to the woods of Aquilonia at the beginning of BR and to dispense of the Red Hand and meet Valeria before Red Nails. Six for BR & BS and 6 or 8 for RN would work, with a 3 month break between each.

It would be two years; easily the most ambitious thing dark horse ever did. If King Conan sales rise up I can see them doing it

Agreed. I would definitely hold onto The Black Stranger, Beyond the Black River, and Red Nails for Truman and Giorello to do. What you would call those books...I don't know. Maybe just simply label them as mini series - Conan: The Black Stranger, Conan: Beyond the Black River, and Conan: Red Nails. That might be the easiest choice.
I really think if there's enough time left on the license, Truman and Giorello should work in Queen of the Black Coast, too. To cancel out Wood's bastardization of it.
The rest of the arcs can be adapted in whatever the monthly is at the moment, but definitely in agreement with you guys about the big three that are left should be handled by Truman and Giorello.

yeah, I asked that question earlier about the license time left? - anybody know? I'd love to know the answer as well, but I doubt Cabinet or Dark Horse would tell us. It seems like comic companies like to keep all of that under a tight lid and not advertise it. The only time I heard a comic company give a deadline was when Disney bought Star Wars. Everyone knew it was only a matter of time before Marvel got the Star Wars books as a result, and the Dark Horse Publisher said Dark Horse still had the license for another year (if I remember correctly). It wasn't long after that we got Marvel Star Wars comics again. I think that was the best thing to happen if you're someone that wants to keep the REH license at Dark Horse, since they lost their Star Wars cash cow, they need their other licences more than ever.

Dark had star wars till 2014. Dawn of the Jedi (one of the last star wars series) was released then.

Once that happens the only stories left will be Black Stranger Black River Red Nails Pool of the Black One Drums of Tombalku Vale of Lost Women I would hope Roy & Tom pick the "Tombalku Fragment". Roy simply adapted the LSdC completion last time. RT is about the only Conan comics writer I would trust to actually look at Gazal and the Riders and maybe make some sense out of them. "Tombalku" is a difficult story with lots of things to juggle. Plus, with two different cities and combat/horses, this would be right up Tom's alley.

Agreed. It always needed expansion I think.
If that's the order than I think they're probably gonna try the miniseries route on Pool of the Black One as well. You'd be able to do a 25 issue series of the "black and red stories" and I honestly think you could at least get Truman back even if Giorello is unavailable. From there they could simply wrap up any loose ends.
They might not even try to use Vale (I'm not sure it would be prudent in today's climate); they'd probably have to rewrite it considerably if they didn't want to get crucified in the media.
