Conan shooting ninjas kinda looks ridiculous, but Frank Castle getting ready to smite the attacking assassins with a sword looks right.

*Sigh* remember when Roy's Conan considered a bow an unmanly weapon ? Now we get him with effin' machine guns. How times change - for the worse!

*Sigh* remember when Roy's Conan considered a bow an unmanly weapon ? Now we get him with effin' machine guns. How times change - for the worse! My thoughts precisely. Although Conan did use a bow a few times in both Howard's and Roy's stories. And I think the cover for What If Conan Were Stranded In The Present, where he is pointing a gun straight at the viewer is pretty cool.

That comic did have him prefer using knives though; he didn't actually use a gun in the story itself. And the story for this comic describes him using a sword, albeit a slightly unusual one.

Congratulations, Marvel. You are making it even worse. There is no limit for your creativity.

Yeah, I know. He only used knives in the what if comic. But I think the What If cover is badass even tho he is holding a gun and it's well painted too.

Why don’t they just get Rob Liefeld to write and draw Conan and be done with it.

I wanted to hate this book, but I just can't bring myself to it. The first issue was a fun 90's action comic with some great artwork. I'm not really into superhero comics anymore and Conan is the only reason I'm picking this up. I like it. It's not REH's Conan or DH's Conan but I wasn't expecting anything faithful from Marvel anyway. From the main Conan lines I expect readable (edit: not even quality, just readable) pastiche, but for a crossover comic featuring a time traveling Conan, I just expect it to be fun.

Yeah, I think so far, I know there's only been one issue, Savage Avengers looks like a fun 90's style book with potentially, an ongoing story to justify the formation of the team. Something severely lacking in the other titles featuring Conan.

Give it some time and well have a Rob Liefeld pastiche to end all Conan pastiches! As a child of the 90's that would be phenomenal! I'd love to see Rob do a Conan project. Savage Avengers would be a good place for Rob to really cut lose. But I'd also like to see him do proper sword and sorcery. I thought Rob's Prophet was like a combination of Conan, Wolverine, and the biblical heroes of old.
