Chris, Thank you very much!, I will check out your stories. Cool! Hope you find something you like. FYI, I'm hoping to develop an original series called Tales of the Tomahawk featuring my character Ansen Grost who is the child of Norwegian immigrants in the late 1890s who are slaughtered by a Shoshone war band. The child is kept alive and traded between the nations until he is adopted by an Arapaho medicine man who is a force to be reckoned with. Ansen is given the name Owejiwa, raised like a native, but with a Norse build and personality that is a perfect blend of savagery. His adopted father bequeaths him an ancient tomahawk that is a token of power able to sniff out ancient, evil entities (aka Lovecraftian deities and the like) and deliver them a crushing blow that would make Solomon proud. I'm working on Vol II and have ideas for two more volumes. You can read a bit about Vol II on my Coming Next page. I'm excited to see this series grow into several volumes, as long as stories keep coming to me. Thanks, Lonewolf.

You might also like to take a look here at my collection of Lovecraftian and other tales. Innsmouth Echoes is a collection of stories spanning the ages. The Dunwich Nightmare series is modern day, set in the UK. Fast moving mythos action! Innsmouth Gold

Thanks for the info Chris. I'll print it out later, I can't read stuff on screen for that long these days.

Never like to make assumptions...you've read the Howard stories in those veins? Detective etc.? I have not read any Howard stories outside Conan and Solomon Kane, what would you recommend? (Any of the Del Rey collections?) It's actually discovering Robert E Howard/this site that ignited my interest is reading, I enjoyed reading as a kid/teenager but I guess I never really found the type of stories/niche that compelled me to continue reading as an adult. Due to this site (the threads/comments/recommendations) I have read more books over the last 2 years than I had the prior 30! Thank you all!

Well since we're here to celebrate REH, I'll toss out a favorite story of mine: "Skull Face" by Robert E. Howard. Problem is it's kind of difficult to find... or at least, random, since it doesn't center on a famous recurring character, it's a one-shot. Still, I think it checks all the blocks you mentioned for setting, content, time period, etc. And I think the reason I love REH so much is b/c his prose still feels modern, sleek and muscular; no ponderous page-long descriptions here, thank you. I found it in a collection called "Nameless Cults" which is pretty solid as a whole. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nameless_Cults_(short_story_collection)Mick
