Sorrow Of The EarthA slightly more problematic look at Cody and his Wild West Show - I would've preferred less of the fancies and more facts, although the book itself might be more balanced. ...... Cody and the WWS were certainly problematic. REH didn't care for 'im (of course, Cody wasn't Texan). However, that link reads like a screed. Quite shrill. I know from more than one account that at least some of the Native Americans were "glad" (in a relative way) to be with the WWS. It allowed them to ride, travel and make money, instead of scratching the earth trying to make a living as a peon farmer, which is the only other option the BIA left them. Tragic, but there it is. There seemed to be a huge amount of posthumous mind-reading going on in that link (and a virulently post-modernist lens being used). Like you said, more facts, less fancies.
