Nice variant cover by E. M. Gist for Savage Avengers #17.

SAVAGE AVENGERS #16 As one arc closes, another opens, and here it's pretty evident Savage Avengers has never been better. Pat Zircher's work here is exemplary, exactly what you could want from a massive set-piece involving the roughest Avengers and a talking dragon. Duggan's dialogue here has the echoes of yesteryear, helping set a tone that pays homage to the stories of the past all while helping set itself apart from any other typical cape books available today. -- Adam Barnhardt

I just read this one and I gotta say, I laughed harder than I should at the method of escape Conan and Deadpool used to get out of prison. All in all, a great issue. I was expecting it to feel like a shoehorned story but it was good. Duggan's run has been one of the better renditions of Conan since Marvel regained the rights.

To think, they only planned to have this series run for 6 to 12 issues. I'm glad they kept it going and I hope it's gonna keep going for a couple more years.

Not only Deadpool, but Conan is a Logan fan too.

I've seen Wolverine-like Conan depictions since the 1995 series Conan The Savage so it's only natural, and it's awesome. Also Conan finally dresses properly for a modern world setting.

Reading Conan after Marvel regained the rights to publish him has been a tough job. He has become a clown and is so far away from what Howard created that it is fair to say it is completely another character, very shallow by the way, but with the same name Conan. Apart from that, Marvel has chosen a second class team to work with the character and their best writers and artists are still doing super heroes stuff. Is has been a failure since its beginning back in 2019. The only thing that saves the days are the Savage Sword reprints up to vol. 4, that are awesome. Dark Horse, when started working on Conan back in 2003, made a much better work, far superior than what Marvel is coming up with today. Fortunately we still have the new Howard adaptations printed by Ablaze, but I was really looking foward to great new Conan stories, which have not yet come.

Myself, I think it's great that we get readable material that is a little closer to what we expected from the original SSOC ( they had dud issues back than too ), work like The Frost Giant's Daughter by Ablaze, and to a smaller extent the new CtB, but I still like the Savage Avengers as a kind of tongue in cheek/retro Marvel 1990's slash type of offering. I just look and enjoy em in different ways, not part of the mainstream Conan continuity. Maybe a kind of fun crazy What If, but it still works at times when done right.

Just read this issue, this book is great fun. I'd like to see a Conan Deadpool comic, surprisingly, they work well together.
