Gonna see these guys on October 7 in Columbus. So ready. Been meaning to reply to this thread for a while. Turned out to be a fairly decent album from Maiden in the end. Not a true classic IMO, but not bad either. For me the album got overshadowed though, as I discovered Warrior Path at about the same time and it's fair to say I became obsessed. Dune inspired stoner metal: Really enjoyed this! Had it on in the background while reading. Something a little light from me now. I have heard talk about the energy crisis in Europe, people going into the woods of Germany to collect firewood and so on, but I think the Europeans will be fine finding their rustic roots again. For instance, this friendly German folk village scene. Thankfully it's turned out to be a pretty mild winter, so far at least. So the energy crises have been averted, mostly. This song/video is worth a listen/look if you haven't already as well: Saw them in Hamburg a couple of years ago, great live show! Debating whether to go again in a couple of months. As a 'new' song to add, this has been on rotation recently:

Interestingly enough, that's when I first found out about Rammstein, their unique industrial hard rock style and imagery stood out. Seen that one too, and the controversy that went with it, but that's what I like about Rammstein, they often embrace the irreverent.

The other day I was driving in my neighbourhood, Melbourne's western suburbs, nice mid summer day, and I had this playing on the car radio, kind of just felt right and approriate.

I'll have another listen and decide then. I remember enjoying Death of the Celts, The Parchment and Lost in a Lost World.

I'm not German - originally UK, but married to a German and half German kids etc. I have no plans to leave! Very far up north, though have visited the south a couple of times and it's definitely scenic! Yep Rammstein are excellent, and they thrive on controversy! It's one of the few (big) metal bands I haven't got round to seeing yet, but the live shows look pretty crazy.

No idea how I missed this song 'til a few months ago. Definitely good while listening to Conan. The last few minutes are epic.

No idea how I missed this song 'til a few months ago. Definitely good while listening to Conan. The last few minutes are epic. This song always made me picture slaves in Stygia, for some reason. I looked into the song a bit more, and indeed, it is written about slaves in Egypt. From the wiki page: It is an epic song narrating the story of a powerful wizard whose attempt to fly by constructing a mystical tower to the stars leads to the enslavement of vast numbers of people. Interesting lyrics, too.
