Here's a video review by Comics MATTER w/Ya Boi Zack (it takes about a minute and 40 seconds for him to get round to actually review the comic):

He makes a great point about the mysterious and foreboding nature of the more panned out panels.

I read #1 and #2 today and was pleasantly surprised. Las Vegas as a city of thieves does work and Ahmed did an excellent job with Conan's dialogue and man out of time persona. This is actually a pretty good series so far. Of course, Luke Ross' art is excellent. Hope to see these guys on a Hyborian Age story sometime. Likewise. And like you say, the art is excellent - It's what's really attracting me to this series. The story is mediocre, imo, but Ahmed does keep the spirit of Conan alive, and he's not acting out of the ordinary. I'm not pleased with these Conan-in-modern-times ideas, but this team is doing a good job, given what they have to work with.

Yeah, he does make a good point about the artwork. From what he was able to show it appears Ross is still on point.
I like how Conan broke away from the vfx ring thanks to his indomitable will. That's Conan.

I have to say, after reading #3 this was a really good issue, and although it's set in the modern Marvel Universe, it felt like a sword-and-sorcery comic. The jungles of Wakanda (like the Savage Land in Savage Avengers) are a great police to have Conan visit, as he doesn't look out of place.
I loved him resisting the ring and exploring the cave. I never pictured Set to be a hydra-like creature, but I'm okay with some artistic license.
I'd like to see Saladin Ahmed and Luke Ross on a Hyborian Age Conan tale now. If they can create readable Conan comics in this setting, I'm sure they could tell some fine tales in Conan's age.

champion looks like Super Joe.
But where's his kung fu grip? This Joe almost looks like one of the dudes from Big Jim's Wolfpack.

A review by Bill at the Comic Book University. He seems a little upset at Marvel's rendition of the Cimmerian in this issue.
