Razorfist plays Skyrim modded to approximate Elric. He then brainstorms what an actual Elric video game might be like. Pretty cool. Started watching this last night, a great video so far. Informative and entertaining! I have Skyrim Special Edition on PS4, so no Elric mods for me, but I do have the Tamriel equivalent of Stormbringer, the Ebony Blade on my character. It absorbs a high amount of enemy health, but sadly doesn't do a lot of damage compared to other swords later on in the game. You unfortunately can't upgrade it as the in-game lore states the ebony metal cooled even the Skyforge when someone attempted to strengthen the blade. On the plus side, I also killed the analogues of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser in the Ratway below Riften

I was really curious about Moorcock, but after small exposures to his work I saw that he (to his own admission) has no prose ability whatsoever, and his words don't paint a scene. An authour without these two affinities may as well be a boxer without legs; i guess you can still punch technically, but where's the power, the positioning, all of which makes a boxing match truly purposeful and even possible.
I also found the twisted content to be gratuitous, illogical and unearned, not too mention disrespectful.
Howard had some twistedness to his writing, sure. But it was often only alluded to instead of playing outright on the page. And furthermore it was earned, and held some importance to the themes of the story.

I like Elric and think that my favorite book is the Del Ray "Stealer of Souls" trade paperback from a few years ago. Awesome cover and original versions of the stories as they first came out in the old days.
Corum and Hawkmoon are also awesome characters.
Not sure about Kane of Old Mars, though. I owned the White Wolf omnibus years ago and remember the stories as being okay but not stellar. I recently re-bought the book and struggled to make it through the first story. I think that as I grow older I find that no one can out-Burroughs ERB and I felt like Moorcock tried too hard to make something like Barsoom.
Just my two coppers.

In my prior post I forgot to mention that part of what initially endeared me to Moorcock was the fact that he was a Howard fan and a Lovecraft hater, like myself. The concept of the "eternal hero" also makes tons of narrative sense to me for any heroic type of story (even for anti-heroes) and I feel it's a concept Howard himself was already playing with less overtly and consciously.

If you haven't picked up those 2 graphic albums yet, do so. They are phenomenal and Moorcock himself was involved in overseeing the production of the French volumes. On another note, I have a bunch of Moorcock on the shelves and I have read most of it piecemeal over the years, but thinking of doing an extensive reread of a lot of it. Can anyone point out some guide to a suggested reading order for all the Eternal Champion stuff, or just a plain reading order for all his stuff if it exists. -M

I'd say the way White Wolf published the series back in the mid 90s is as good as any other:

The Wiki page lists the volumes and the stories within down the bottom of the page. Intersperse Jerry Cornelius, Gloriana and other random stories at your discretion.

From what I can tell the third volume is expected to be released this year. Elric, Tome 3 : Le Loup Blanc (The White Wolf)Elric: Le Loup Blanc will initially be released as two comics, then they'll be collected in a hardback volume to match the first two Elric volumes. There'll also be a deluxe, oversized version of the first book coming this year.
