 Conan Properties and Robert E Howard Properties LLC has teamed with Chenault & Gray Publishing/Troll Lord Games to bring you Michael Tierney’s Robert E. Howard Art Chronology. This multi-volume set explores the art used in the manifold publications of the vast Howard body of work for nearly the past century, including novels, comics, pulps, and more! Tierney brings the same clear vision, attention to detail and capacity for exhaustive research to the Robert E. Howard Art Chronology as he did to the Edgar Rice Burroughs 100 Year Art Chronology project.
When discussing the project, Stephen Chenault of Chenault & Gray, remarked, “Everyone here is extremely excited about this! If ever there were an icon that has universal recognition and whose stories touched a nerve in multiple generations, it is Robert E. Howard. His remarkable writing style remains unrivaled to this day, and his influence in games, fiction, movies, comics and all the manifold aspects of our entertainment worlds cannot be overstated. Michael Tierney’s Edgar Rice Burroughs’ 100 Year Art Chronology, available now, is a 4-volume collection that captured the vast illustrative history of Edgar Rice Burroughs. ERB., Inc. and Chenault & Gray Publishing debuted in 2017 to wide acclaim. It chronicled all the vast reservoir of art that adorned the many ERB publications, from Barsoom to Caspek for the past century! The Robert E. Howard Art Chronology is expected to be 3-4 volumes and will be presented in the same format as the ERB collection.

This is definitely something to be on the lookout for. I have a feeling that unlike the ERB collection which is still available years after release, this collection will "fly off the shelves"!

Kickstarter went live yesterday and was funded very quickly. Looks interesting.
I'm not sure if I'll buy it though. I doubt we'll see much art that isn't already readily available online. Most REH pulps are scanned, book covers are easy to find via eBay, and by my reckoning there are only a handful of unscanned REH comics - mostly Cross Plains stuff, and one mini Dark Horse comic.
I'd like to see a deep-dive into AMRA and the artwork found there - lots of Krenkel goodness to be found - but I don't see any mention of fanzines in the Kickstarter description. And there's some good artwork to be found in non-English REH comics, but I kind of doubt this collection will go there either...

I pledged the full platinum thingy. I don’t really care for comics but the first two books will be a blast. I know most of the art can be found online, but to flip through a book with everything put together, and chronoligically, it’s great. Tierney really seems to know his Howard and to be passionnate about the project. Also, Rusty Burke is involved. I’m looking forward to reading the text they write about each story. It’s expansive, but this is unique. I won’t miss on that!

At the moment they'll be fulfilling the Kickstarter supporters , it will then be available through normal sources, Amazon etc. |

Thanks. I'll get this when it's available from Amazon or another reputable seller. Some time ago I ordered the Burroughs Art Chronology but for some reason the parcel service messed up and returned the books back to the sender so I got a refund. Then I had second thoughts about spending 300 bucks (incl. shipping to Europe and taxes) because I'm not a big Burroughs fan and I already have much of the best artworks in various other books. So far I haven't re-ordered the Burroughs Chronology but I definitely need these Howard art books.
