Bill Thom has it on Howard Works as a Spanish version from 2017 now reprinted in English - unofficial pastiche. You can read the first few pages , they include the first part of QotBC then onto the pastiche. Cabinet might come down on them if they know about it.

Martinez really does manage to expand on the original with 536 pages in the printed version. We got a post for the Spanish version in the Conan Comics & books from around the World thread: swordsofreh.proboards.com/post/15331

I'm reading it now. Pretty good so far. The author makes an interesting point that we know more about Conan's Black Coast piracy years from Hour of the Dragon than we do from Queen of the Black Coast.

Thanks Hun, I certainly missed the original post of the Spanish language version. A little snooping reveals that the author translated several Howard collections/stories for the Spanish book market, and some other works by Doyle and Verne. I guess it wasn’t too hard to publish a Conan pastiche in Spain without the go ahead from Cabinet, but they are pushing their luck by marketing an English translation on the North American market.

Grabbed this in paperback and kindle in case Cabinet sends them a cease and desist. From the little I've looked at digitally it doesn't look bad.

If you do read this one I’d be pleased to see any kind of review. I can’t figure it out. From what I can read online it appears to start off with N’Yaga in open conversation with two deities, Isis and Osiris, about a prophecy thousands of years old coming to pass. After that we have the opening chapter of REH’s Queen of the Black Coast. The author is willing to put his prose cheek by jowl with Howard’s, which strikes me as a pretty ballsy move. At more than twice the size of Hour of the Dragon, this has got to be some kind of epic.

At more than twice the size of Hour of the Dragon, this has got to be some kind of epic. Just skimmed through this book it looks very interesting. The first and last chapters appear to be faithful to the original source material. I cannot say the same for the chapters in between where Martinez, from what I have seen so far, expands on each chapter, probably forming some kinda connection, somehow to the rest of the 470 page novel. Fortunately, Martinez also seems to acknowledge little clues left by REH in the other yarns, it'll be intriguing to see the results, hopefully I won't be too disappointed. We are also re-introduced to several characters from the other Conan yarns (I don't wanna give anything away here) and of course a few new ones. I think this will either be an epic yarn relating the adventures of Conan and Belit in the 3 year gap between the original 1st and 2nd chapter or an over-complex disaster - I can imagine something like this working in the comic book medium but have my doubts on whether it'll work in a prose Novel. The poems by REH at the beginning of each Chapter appear to be included as well as poetry by Martinez for each new chapter in the book. I gotta admit, some of the stuff I noticed got me excited, I almost jumped into this book today - but I've just started reading Brian Murphy's Flame and Crimson: A History of Sword & Sorcery, I'll finish that first. REH's Hyborian Age essay can be found after the novel, followed by A Possible Conan Outline based on the old Miller & Clark Chronology and a couple of pages explaining the Western Kingdoms in Conan's Youth. ... and finally A Few Words from the author probably explaining his approach to the novel. Unfortunately, no interior illustrations in this one. Hope that helps. I'm gonna try and read this one, soon, but 480 pages is a long read for a Conan yarn tooooo long

My copy came in the mail a few days back and it's a pretty nice looking book. The only minor quibble I have is the font on the spine is upside down. That could be a European thing and something they forgot to convert.

Nice to see a painted cover on a new book. Everything I see nowadays has cheap ass look'en Photoshop trash. I digress, has anyone got into this novel yet? How is it?

I thought the preview looked promising. None of REH's literary flair or intensity (except in the QotBC bookend) but some solid storytelling and interesting characterisation from a good grounding in the Conan canon such as I could tell. I think the author has read some of the fanfics on the old message board. That scene with the Stygian sorceror for instance seemed very similar to one of the fanfics Bux posted.
