I wish Roy and Ernie had finished their version back in the old days. They probably could've gotten it done in one more part. With Ernie gone, it'll be always left unfinished.

I'll never stop beating that dead horse.

Worth a shot, there's any number of places they could jam it into with the other two parts.

You guys have made me interested in rereading this. I'm pretty sure I didn't pick up on some of the Howardian Pictish references the first time through. I definitely didn't register him using Balthus' sword. Here ya go:

Here ya go: Not only that, but in the essay Truman wrote that appears at the back of the TPB, he says that the crown in the story is not only the one Kull gives to Brule the Spear-Slayer, but it is also the same one that Bran Mak Morn wears during the Age of Rome, thousands of years later.

I must say, that Nai really doesn't look her age. Must be one hell of a workout regimen.

Yes, I remember Bran Mak Morn with the same crown at the end of the story.

Thanks! That's beyond awesome. I'm sold, re-reading this ASAP. Although seeing Truman and Giorello's work again will be a cruel reminder that the best days of Conan comics are behind us. Attachments:

It's funny these books sold around 8,000 copies a month.
Now they slap on the Marvel logo on the front of a mediocre Conan comic and sell between 20,000 to 30,000 copies a month.

With the last issue of CtB #14 coming in at just under 21k before everything went to pot be interesting to see what it comes back as. Also though DH's Conan titles were low at the end a more interesting comparison I find is against DH's Conan #14 , without the Marvel name , hype and variant covers that issue sold over 38k.

Re-read this last night. Marvel, bring back Truman and Giorello as quick as you can. Yeah, it's one of my favorites. Great art. Great writing. Great story that connects with the mythos outside of the story itself. It's a story that takes a Howard fragment and turns it into something quite new and fresh--something we haven't seen before. It's awesome.

Sales have dropped considerably since then. If you do the same and go back a further 17 years Marvel woulda canceled Conan with 38k sales a month.
