Cimmerian: Frost Giants Daughter #1 Story & Art by Robin Recht Robert E. Howard’s Conan is brought to life UNCENSORED!
Discover the true Conan, unrestrained, violent, and sexual. Read the story as he intended! The only survivor of a ferocious battle, Conan sits in the midst of a bloodstained snow field. When the fight is over, the Cimmerian suddenly finds himself overcome with deep weariness and disgust. Until the moment he meets a redheaded woman of supernatural beauty, blinding like the glow of the sun on the snow. Moved by a burning desire, Conan decides to follow her but finds himself caught in a trap, attacked by two titans. In his ardour, he was not suspicious, he did not imagine for a second that his bride was none other than Ymir’s own daughter: the frost-giant! A mythical tale both in both form and substance, The Frost-Giant’s Daughter is masterfully adapted by Robin Recht, who manages to capture the essence of this whirlwind tale of violent desire, a true love trap in which the force of will of the Cimmerian is put to the test.
As a bonus, also includes Robert E. Howard prose story from Weird Tales!
IN STORES TOMORROW!

"As a bonus, also includes Robert E. Howard prose story from Weird Tales!" OK folks, problem with this statement? The Frost Giant's Daughter was never published in Weird Tales! …What do I win? Glad to see this adaptation getting a wider audience through Ablaze, I'm curious to see what people think of it. It's certainly not entirely faithful to Howard but is a great comic.

Ah, but notice they don't say THIS REH story will be included! :-) But, yeah...now what version will we get? Gods of the North should be in PD whereas FGD won't be.

The story is printed with Howard's hyphenated title The Frost-Giant's Daughter but is credited as being from Fantasy Fan, so I guess it's actually The Gods of the North?
Can't say I'm familiar enough with the variations to know for sure, so here's the first page.

We're in an alternate universe now, where The Frost Giant's Daughter appeared in Fantasy Fan. Gods of the North features Amra of Akbitana.

Wow, this first issue looks fantastic. Top tier cover art and as johnny says, a prose publication from an alternate timeline

I liked it. Expanding on the secondary characters in such a short story was a very smart move on the writers part. And of course the art is great. Conan's reveal is badass.

I'm late to the party on #1, but by Odin's beard was this a fine issue, the best Conan comic I've read since Wolves Beyond the Border all those years ago.
This is a fine lesson on adapting/expanding REH tales and the art, wow this really blew my socks off. Robin Recht needs to be brought state-wide and do some Marvel work, ideally spearheading a new Savage Sword of Conan.
I'm looking forward to grabbing #2 sometime this week as it appears it is moving into the short story proper.

The Frost Giant's Daughter story was always a quick read, still enjoyed the adaptation. They expended it without messing with the story in any significant way. They should have had actual snow giants as opposed to the giant polar bears, but that was my only sticking point.. Maybe the bears are a nod to FF's Silver Warrior. Still worked.
