They have disabled 'dislikes' because everytime they pushed some BS woke or globalist agenda by MSM on youtube by the less than 1% , the 99% voted it down. The only thing is that they have done that across the board for everything, hence we can't use the function to gage the general public sentiment on discussions as innocent as production and casting issues around a tv series or film. This all began with Captain Marvel getting ratioed on Rotten Tomatoes. Some suspected at the time that Disney/Marvel offered them an incentive for nixing the function. Edit - Blood origins is now on 39k likes and 121k dislikes. I lost all respect for Rotten Tomatoes, also happened with the new Star Wars films, rigged towards Disney productions. Some people can be bought.

I think it was during Captain Marvel's run that they actually nixed the dislike function and started rigging the scoring algorithm to automatically exclude 1/2 and 1 star reviews.

So, we're almost into December 2022... What do we do with this thread?
It's obvious Netflix isn't going to happen. Best case scenario is they don't continue the Witcher with Lil Hemsworth and greenlight Conan as an s&s replacement. But I don't see that happening.
Is the shadow of Arnold that large (and the Mamoa film that bad) where the character will never be able to be played by anyone else?
When is the deadline to shutter this thread?

Wait until the new year, then we’ll reconsider.

I really don't want to see Arnie come back as an old grizzled King Conan.

Conan would not give up hope as long as he could breath. By Crom! Civilization has made you soft :-)

Yeah, shut this thread. It is dead. I called Malmberg out on Twitter, asked him straight if Conan was forthcoming from Netflix, he avoided a simple yes or no answer, by continuing to deflect my questions. Not even forthcoming with an "in progress" standard statement. In my book that is an admission of zero movement beyond the script writing stage. Doubtless the rights Netflix has will expire soon. Then back to the cinematic Conan drawing board.

You'd hope there was a way to legally walk that tightrope between Netflix making the decision and letting people know...something. But the ball is in Netflix's court and they don't owe anybody a word about anything until they decide. It'd sure be beyond frustrating to get yet ANOTHER false start, spending years waiting for nothing.
With all the bloodletting going on out there, there's not a lot of places right now to take this, at the moment, they're it.

Perhaps breaking free from the shackles of Netflix, Amazon etc and harking back to the glory days of independent genre cinema would be an option.

Have they even submitted some kinda proposal to Netflix for them to consider and give a green light for a series?

Have they even submitted some kinda proposal to Netflix for them to consider and give a green light for a series? I believe that they had some script development, not sure if a showrunner had been in place or if a series Bible had been created. Fantasy is volcanic hot right now. The Witcher, Lord of the Rings, House of the Dragon, Willow, Wheel of Time etc. I would have hoped that a Conan project would be a priority.

I thought Fred said they had a showrunner but couldn't say who it was. You'd think even letting it leak out may build some anticipation and give Netflix a reason to think people might actually watch it. This is certainly time to strike when the iron is hot. But then you have Stallone pulling killer numbers with Tulsa King (pretty good show BTW), they have to sit back and figure what to do to get the most viewers with the least outlay.

Genre cinema is the proper home for a Conan film, not mega corporations such as Netflix and Amazon. I'm glad that that this is going nowhere with Netflix, it would have been garbage with out a doubt. A hundred thousand or less is perfect for adapting most Conan stories. The only negative aspect here is how long will Neflix hold the rights?
