“She stood framed against the stars like shadowed wonder etched with silver....” a totally redrawn version of my fourth illustration for Von K's fanfic of Conan and the pirate Belít. Much happier with this version. Next drawing very soon :-) doctor vince That's awesome doctorvince! It's amazing the way you capture all the peripheral details and combine them in a single image. Great starscape too. I've updated my thread with your latest version.

"Conan growled and ripped his sword from its sheath..."
Here's the illustration for the body of chapter two. The passage which inspired me is this one (from Von K's excellent The Tomb of the Ykarhu)...
"She began to speak. At first her words came falteringly, and Conan could make no sense of them or the language in which they were spoken. Then she began to annunciate in broken Shemitish.
‘Wanderer. I am Xeyr. Your woman wears my soul gem, and I now wear her body.’
Conan growled and ripped his sword from its sheath. Lifting it high he turned toward the great crystal in its bracket at the center of the crypt."

Conan's stance here reminds me of Harold S DeLay who was imho the best of the original Conan illustrators for Weird Tales which gives this pic an authentic pulp vibe. Always look forward to checking out your latest conception.

Always look forward to checking out your latest conception. Oh! I recognize his name from the Red Nails illustrations he did in Weird Tales - he was really great. That's pretty good company for me to be in, and definitely the right spirit for my illustrations. The last one (before the cover) is almost finished. Look for it soon.

Final illustration for chapter 3 of Von K's The Tomb of the Ykarhu. The passage reads "‘Conan,’ she murmured sleepily, ‘I dreamed we sailed the Tigress beyond the world’s edge and out among the stars. I reached up and gathered them like jewels--’" Now on to the cover... -doctorvince

It's been really intriguing to see which scenes you choose to illustrate.

Okay, the cover is done! Von K and I have created a PDF which combines his story along with the cover and my six illustrations. The PDF is a small homage to the classic Weird Tales. It's also a gift to anyone who is a fan of Robert E. Howard's stories - especially members of this forum! The PDF is available for free: The Tomb of the Ykarhu 1st edition PDF-doctorvince
