Announcement by the Uncanny Omar for the 6th volume of SSOC expected in November: Breaking News: 1 Marvel Omnibus, 3 Marvel Masterworks & 3 Oversized Hardcovers!I remember when Omar started getting his exclusives a year or so ago and it was annoying at first, having to sit through a video instead of looking at a Hachette catalog. Now he qualifies as much watch video!

(not final cover) Savage Sword Of Conan: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus Vol. 6Description: In this massive Omnibus collection, writer Michael Fleisher hits his stride with a series of mold-breaking Conan tales like “The Temple of the Twelve-Eyed Thing,” “Demons of the Firelight” and “Dominion of the Bat” — illustrated by top talents including Alfredo Alcala, Ernie Chan and, of course, the one and only John Buscema! Meanwhile, X-MEN superstar Chris Claremont pens an adventure that pits Conan against the minions of Thoth-Amon in a tour de force drawn by Val Mayerik! Conan legend Roy Thomas is also on hand to tell solo stories of Conan’s “Red Nails” colleague, Valeria. Rounding out this volume are the conclusion of John Buscema’s “Bront” — and extensive articles on, and the comic book adaptation of, the blockbuster Conan the Barbarian film!

I actually like both covers and might actually go for the variant cover this time. On the timeline, how is the quality of writing going forward. Would this be the first shades of a jumping off point of the series?

Personally I jumped off the book during the previous omnis.stories.

Anyone going beyond the Roy Thomas run with these omnis? I have decided, momentarily, to continue with the Savage Sword of Conan volumes, at least.

The last omnibus would contain the SSOC 65 intro tale of the planet adventure/heroic fantasy run. Too bad the series did not continue past five issues as a back up story. Maybe if Jim Zub or someone else from Marvel are reading this they could do something with the character, although I know that the story probably served as an excellent medium to showcase John Buscema's fantastic art more than anything else. Still, it was a good concept. darkworldsquarterly.gwthomas.org/john-buscemas-bront/

SSOC volume 7 will be $150 next year. I guess it'll be the same for the CtB omnibus editions. DM Cover by Bob Larkin Savage Sword Of Conan: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus Vol. 7Description: Savage Sword enters an exciting new era with the first appearance of one of Conan’s deadliest super-villain adversaries, Wrarrl, better known as the Devourer of Souls! He earned that title by consuming the life force of anyone standing in his way—but he never met a foe as ardent as Conan! Their iconic battle is the first of several engagements between the two in Marvel Conan lore. And returning to menace Conan is another of his legendary rogues gallery, Captain Bor’aqh Sharaq, believed to be dead but hunting Conan on a quest for vengeance! This Omnibus edition is packed with Conan classics, with stories by Michael Fleisher, Christopher Priest and art by all-time Conan great John Buscema!
