I saw this last night (at the theatre!) with my kids and had a glorious monkey-punchin time.
I won't really give a review, other than to say if you've seen the other Monsterverse films then you sort of know what to expect, and that this one is the best of the bunch.
All I wanted was Monster fights. A bit of mystery. Some humor. A pulpy feel. And no agenda shoved down my throat. And that's what they delivered.

I loved the whole movie, and the facial expressions of Godzilla were awesome during fight scenes.

I was very entertained. I particularly enjoyed the cyberpunk aesthetic in some scenes and the synthwave on the soundtrack.
Some of the shots of Kong in is element would have not have been out of place on a DAW paperback cover.

I was looking forward to this for months and I wasn't disappointed. There were a few too many human character groups...could have just lived with Skarsgard and the Monarch guys, but I understand why they had to have Millie Bobbi Brown and her team in there.
I loved the Hollow Earth stuff, though, to me that was the high point. Edgar Rice Burroughs would be proud.
I'm not a big Godzilla or Kaiju fan, but I love Kong, so hopefully we'll see more films starring him.

It's huge and unexplored and all sorts of weird zany things could happen. So much potential.

They just did the Pitch Meeting on this and the whole "Why is it bright in Hollow Earth" comes up and is blown off as usual. I thought "Burroughs covered that!"

One day I will get pissed enough to watch something titled Godzilla vs Kong.

I've seen Kong films but I'm not too much a fan of Godzilla. Wasn't there a rendition of him when he was literally a plant?

Godzilla's pretty much always been a lizard of some kind or another, but the villains have been all over the map. I'm not too versed in the Heisei (1984-1995) and Millenium eras, I think there may have been some kind of plant in there.

Yep, it all goes back to Edgar Rice Burroughs (and HRH before him... but really ERB set put this stuff on the map during the pulp era.)

I grew up obsessed with Godzilla, and stayed obsessed until my mid-teens. I've seen all the Godzilla movies and used to have the entirety of lore in one finger tip. So naturally I was excited for the 2014 Godzilla film. I cannot recall ever being so worked up for a movie in my life...And it turned out to be the most disappointing movie I have ever anticipated as well. The monsterverse as a whole has been one big let down after another for me. Initially I was hopeful the films would improve with the next installment. Alas, that did not happen.
Godzilla vs Kong is arguably the best of the series, although that is not saying much considering how the low the series sunk with Godzilla King Of The Monsters. It is a "fine" movie, that at least partially succeeds were the previous entries have failed. No more annoying cuts or bad weather, and spending significantly more time with the titular beasts. Although Godzilla does feel side lined here. He only appears for action essentially, and little more beyond that, which is disappointing. This is a cgi-fest; the charm of the practical effects from the Japanese films is absent, and that was the primary draw for me all along. This is a movie I will probably never watch again.
Here is a video with the screen time of each monster within the film, if anyone is interested.

Just got around to watching this. Couldn't help smiling at Kong's "barbarian moment" holding aloft a severed head in one hand and an axe in the other.

Trailer for the sequel dropped.
Can't say the trailer inspires any excitement from me.

Godzilla doesn't run. That scene just looks silly.
I'll pass.
