HPL's inspiration for the Dhole? I'm listening to The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath at the moment, my first audio book. A good friend got it for me because, he said, I had every other version but the audio. Pretty cool so far.

"...It's either come from out there in the sea, or from up there in the sky. Let's hope that it came from the sea."A couple of weeks ago I found this cut-out from the sun newspaper, dated Thursday the 8th of January 1998, at my local pub. To be more precise I noticed a book one of the guys donated to the 'pub library' - a hardback concerning Oliver Cromwell, I asked if it was OK to have a butcher's hook (a look), he said go ahead, be my guest. As I was flicking through the book the cut-out below caught my eye. I abandoned the book, read it (cut-out, not the book), folded it, and chucked it in my back pocket - somehow I found it again yesterday at home in another pocket, now I can not explain how it got there, or why, or what has unfolded since I first encountered the story a couple of weeks back. But, I thought it best to share this story of the Mystery Blobby: 3-ton Monster with 20 legs Washed up on a Beach in Oz.
I also typed out the story, I know the scan is not exactly the greatest. A mysterious sea monster with 20 legs and weighing three tons has been washed up dead on an Australian beach.
The incredible discovery in a remote area of Tasmania has baffled experts as well as sea fishermen with decades of experience.
The area is close to the spot where four fishermen drowned last year.
Holidaymakers dragged the "blob" - a cross between a giant squid and a walrus - to the high tide mark using a four-wheel drive car on Tuesday.
Maurice Linfoot, a fishermen in the area for 25 years, said: It's the strangest creature I've ever seen. We just can't identify it or even think what it might be. It's a repulsive looking blob. "When we first turned it over, it was pure white and covered in white hair. When its hair dries out, it becomes like rawhide leather. "I've seen deformed sharks and other fish, but nothing ever like this. It's either come from out there in the sea, or from up there in the sky. Let's hope that it came from the sea."
A new team of marine experts will examine the creature later this week.
