Jason Aaron, Mahmud Asrar & Matt Wilson Launch King Conan #1Posted on September 8, 2021 by Rich Johnston | Comments Jason Aaron, Mahmud Asrar, and Matt Wilson are to launch a second ongoing Conan series from Marvel Comics, set at the end of Conan's life as King Conan, from the 15th of December.
The superstar creative team relaunched the tales of the Robert E. Howard hero in 2019 to critical acclaim and are back in this long-awaited limited series that will take the story of Conan further than has ever been revealed in ANY media to date! As Robert E. Howard posited, when King Conan grows restless on the throne, he sails west, toward land and adventure unknown. Now see the first step of King Conan's fateful journey from Aquilonia, as an old and terrible danger threatens to end the saga of the Cimmerian once and for all! "I knew as soon as Mahmud, Matt and I finished "The Life and Death of Conan" in CONAN THE BARBARIAN, one of the absolute personal highlights from my career as a comic book writer, that I wasn't done hanging out with everyone's favorite Cimmerian," Aaron said. "As King Conan rode into the sunset at the end of that story, with his son, Prince Conn, by his side, I always knew where I wanted that story to take us next. Now at last comes that next chapter, as Mahmud, Matt and I reunite to reveal a pivotal moment in Conan's life as a king, as a father, as a mortal enemy of snake-worshipping Stygian wizards and as a barbarian who was born to chase the wind, even to the ends of the earth." "By Crom, we're finally bringing the barbarian-turned-king to the readers," Asrar said. "It's criminal how much I'm enjoying drawing each panel in this book considering what we're putting him through."
Don't dare miss the first issue of the adventure of a lifetime when KING CONAN #1 arrives on December 15!

To be honest I will give it a try when its released , I have not read the classic Marvel "King Conan" so I dont know about Prince Conn character or actitud, maybe they could use Zenobia a little more or develop additional Royal Family characters to make the plot a little more interesting, PERSONALLY speaking the idea of King Conan could work under the modern "Game of Thrones-ization" that we are currently having. BUT we can only wait for the best.

Didn't enjoy Aaron's run on CtB so won't be supporting this. Shame for Jim's run to be sidelined for this. Just hope he has a chance to come back. I guess as this series was presumably done and due out last year they had to publish it sometime.

It’s only a six issue run so we should hear very soon after the first issue comes out what they have in mind next.

ONly a six issue run?, for real Marve?.....at least we have Glenat and Ablaze versions. If for some reason this new run fails did you think that Marvel will give it other try to Conan or to Zub?

Although I'm not interested I hope enough are to boost Conan sales back up. I'm sure the #1 will do well but how far it falls by #6 might be the death knell apart from Savage Avengers and the reprint programme. They will probably relaunch with a new #1 , hopefully with Jim aboard , but I can't really see where it can go to generate sales to keep it afloat long-term from where it is now.

I'm still looking forward to this title. I like Asrar's art and Jason Aaron is a good writer honestly but he made Conan seem more like a Thor story. Also this will be the only ongoing Conan title based in the Hyborian age.

Am afraid tht 6 issues is too little for a good narative arc, but they can sure give it a try, I have been reading some Conan-related-RPGs and in " Aquilonia Flower of the west" they add some royal family characters, maybe they can be use for an interesting plot.

I did not enjoy the 'The Life of and Death of Conan', but I'll still give Conan the King a try. Maybe Aaron/Asrar learned from the mistakes/flaws of that series and will deliver an awesome Conan comic.
Wolves Beyond the Border by Truman/Giorello was only 4 issues and was excellent, so a great story doesn't necessarily need 12 issues.

Am hoping that both of them learned from their past run and will have a wonderfull second chance. and "Wolves Beyond the Border" had the advantage of being a Howard adaptation BUT lets wait for the issues to be released, as we speak here in México we have yet to get the first issue of "Land of Lotus" so all depents on the USA.

Thank the gods it's only 6 issues. Asrar seemed to get what a good s&s comic should look like by the end of their run. Wasn't happy with Aaron's story, though, hopefully he learned his lesson.
