I am glad the rights to Conan are being lost by Marvel. They has prostituted and crowbarred the character into their universe. My sentiments are the same. I wonder how long they will be able to publish Savage Avengers featuring Conan since the rights have expired. Malmberg says that they may come to an agreement with Marvel to have him guest star at times. Marvel will be able to reprint the books that have come out so far.

Just read the 2nd issue.
Loads of action and leaping about and comic book cgi and stuff all over the Hyborian Age during a miner's strike?!?!

Out of curiosity I shamefully bought issue one. The comic seems like a shitty excuse for lots of action and nothing else. Will not be reading any farther.

Savage Avengers doesn't take itself too seriously and that works for what they are giving us. A little like watching the campy Batman series from the 60's, just add the kapows.

Without spoiling the issue too badly...
Looks like this is Marvel's last new Conan appearance. It's going to be weird having a Conan spin-off without Conan. Like Mayberry RFD without Andy Griffith. I just dated myself with that reference.
I don't think the series will last too much longer. The main draw (for me, at least) was Conan. We'll see I guess...

That really sums up the problem with modern writers, doesn't it?
"Age undreamed of, what kind of conflict could we have? Hmmm, how about . . . a miner's strike!"
Conan can't get out of Marvel's hands fast enough. Remains to be seen if Titan will be any better.

Savage Avengers was a fun book, I don't know about All-New Savage Avengers (haven't been to the comic shop in many months to pick up my books), though.
But once #5 is out, I'll close this thread and ultimately close the door on Conan's return to Marvel.

Thankfully, it is over.
Hopefully, Titan can do a better job.

Read some of the comments, and I'm in the 'preferred Savage Avengers, but not so much New Savage Avengers' club.
Seemed all over the place, especially the last two issues, everyone mutating and getting all sorts of energy enhancements, tons of sound and fury signifying nothing much.
I had the feeling that the ending was rushed, like they just wanted to finish the series and boot Conan out of Marvel. I think Conan was too much for this era's Marvel to handle, they never really got or understood the readership.
The collected SSOC and CtB/CtK Omnibus editions from the original Marvel years was the best part about the return of Conan to Marvel. I would recommend those not familiar with the original series to check out the collected works and just ditch most of the rest.
Learned the hard way that sometimes when you try and recapture the past you just get shit. Marvel and DC have become the MSM of the comic world.
Hope Titan does a better job.

Now that Conan's gone, will they move on and become the Thamesmen?
