I do not like the Arnold '82 sword! Whhhhyyyyyy? 'Robert E. Howard's Conan'? Or Oliver Stone and Milius' Conan? Gotta appeal to all fans, I get it. And Malmberg always, always, always posts stuff with Arnold. Heck, there are fans of Conan that probably only know Arnold Conan. The Atlantean blade makes sense from a marketing and recognition perspective I guess, even though it's not canon. For this kind of symbolic cover design it's one of the few images specifically associated with Conan and the Hyborian Age in pop culture. Might as well tap into its pop culture heritage. Personally I'd prefer a design closer to a leaf bladed Celtic bronze sword, but that image would be more associated with a historical novel than Conan or the Hyborian Age, so I can see the sense in going for the Atlantean blade design.

I'd be curious to hear if the Robert De La Torre interior illustrations were commissioned specifically for this book or if they stumbled upon them during the production for the new comic series (try out splash pages, samples, etc..)
I don't think I've ever seen a publisher spring for interior art and not cover art.

540 pages?, IMO, all the Conan pastiche's I have read suffer from being over 200 pages......... I hope half that page count belongs to the illustrations; otherwise this is going to be another crap pastiche. If you can't tell your Conan story within 200 pages—it's not story suitable for Conan.

Red Nails is in there as well , so that'll use up a few more pages.

CONAN: BLOOD OF THE SERPENT by SM STIRLINGNEW RELEASE DATE: 29 NOVEMBER 2022 A slightly different description for the book: Mercenary, thief, soldier, usurper…CONAN OF CIMMERIAAs sword for hire for a mercenary troop, Conan finds himself in Sukhmet, a filthy backwater town south of the River Styx considered “the arse-end of Stygia.” Serving in the company known as Zarallo’s Free Companions, he fights alongside soldiers of fortune from Zingara, Koth, Shem, and other lands—a hard-handed band of killers loyal to anyone who pays them well.In a Sukhmet tavern he encounters one soldier in particular—Valeria of the Red Brotherhood, a veteran of freebooters with whom Conan also sailed, launching raids out of the Barachan Isles on the Western Sea. Valeria’s reputation is that of a deadly swordswoman, a notoriety she quickly proves to be accurate. When she runs afoul of an exiled Stygian noble, however, things take a deadly turn, embroiling them both in the schemes of a priest of the serpent god Set.The first new Conan novel in more than a decade, Blood of the Serpent leads directly into one of Robert E. Howard’s most famous sword-and-sorcery adventures, “Red Nails.” As a bonus feature that story, as well, is included in this volume.Specifications ISBN:9781803361833 Format:Hardback Pages:432 Dimension: 9.00" x 6.00" (US)

...considered “the arse-end of Stygia.”
Whomever wrote that should be shot. I know Sterling didn't write it. He's been writing for decades.
