A little bird tells me that Chuck Dixon might be doing a Conan project in the near future. Now, he's not likely to be working on Marvel's Conan, for various reasons. Maybe Ablaze? Or maybe another publisher trying a public domain sidestep like Ablaze is doing? There is the possibility that it's a novel pastiche, since those are being done again, and Dixon has been doing a lot of prose over the past decade, but my money is on a comic project. My only wish that he either re-reads the original stories and The Hyborian Age essay, or at least has an editor who can help him avoid mistakes like the Nemedian navy or Aquilonia sharing a border with Vanaheim.
Edit: Looks to be this: www.arkhaven.com/comics/fantasy/the-siege-of-the-black-citadel (Jason)

Dixon is one of my favorite comic book writers. I haven't read any of his Conan work but he is infamous for the Nemedian Navy and indeed would need a good editor to check his continuity. I wouldn't mind him on any Conan, project, though, he's a great action writer.

Combined with the right artist(s), Dixon's works are some of my favorites after Thomas. I'd be happy to see what he plans on doing.

Why do you think is it unlikely he'd return to Marvel for a new series or one shot? I am not that deep into all the publisher/author relationships.
I'd say Ablaze is quite likely or maybe Dynamite gives it a try.

He's been very critical recently about what Marvel have done with The Punisher , getting rid of the logo as well as his guns.

Given the recent news....this appears to have more legitimacy.
I'll be happy with Dixon as long as he has a good editor familiar with the Hyborian Age.

I loved his work on Conan the Savage but he seems to have a lot less dialogue than writers like Thomas. He prefers to let the action do the storytelling and I like that. It's usually a quicker read but as long as he's paired with a good artist, Dixon will make some great stories for sure... Granted his project is in fact a comic.

That is generally the way it was with Roy Thomas as well when he ran out of material to adapt, hit and miss. Dixon is defiantly one of the best pastiche writes, I recommend his Conan work.

Dixon and Sears would be better off creating Volsung comics... Those pages look great.

Judging from the latest news, it seems likely he's been tapped to write the new Conan series from Titan.

Chuck Dixon mentions an announcement about Conan on his YouTube channel in April.
I doubt he'll be writing the main series. I'd surmise, he'd more likely be writing something like the SSoC (this time a black & white magazine).
Ask Chuck Dixon #103
