Trailer for upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie. I have lost all interest in "modern" movies (the Disney/Marvel model of forced humor and agendas), but based on the trailer this doesn't seem as heavy handed, IMO looks fun.

Might be fun but worried like Thor Love and Thunder it might be OTT with the humour , there was a lot in two minutes.

Does look like it could be amusingly watchable though, as you've both observed, it does seem to lean close to the Marvel formula of being cgi heavy, and humour heavy with a nostalgic contemporary soundtrack. Thor Ragnarok with a D+D spin perhaps?

I watched Jason Statham and Burt Reynolds in the Dungeon Siege movie....but I'm not even sure about this.

Hoping of the best, but just on looks, this could be either really good or really bad like the "Clash of Titans" remake. I liked the Clash remake. I'll catch this D&D movie on streaming or something later. I'd rather have a grimdark adaption of an old school AD&D dungeon crawl, with Murderhobos getting eaten by ghouls and dissolved in Gelatinous Cubes. |

There was a 3rd D&D movie (low budget/direct to video) "Book Of Vile Darkness" that actually wasn't that bad, IMO at least seemed to capture the spirit of "D&D". |

Who actually played back in the day? /Second Edition for life, babay! Me! Basic/eXpert and 1st ed. AD&D I'm currently running a 1e AD&D/Labyrinth Lord/LotFP mashup. we might be switching over to ye olde FASA Star Trek in the coming weeks. I feel pretty privileged to still get to play at this stage in life. |

I would rather have had a proper conclusion to the 80s cartoon than this. I also wonder if we will ever get a Drizzt movie or trilogy of movies. I actually think a Dark Elf Trilogy would be really cool to see, something completely different in terms of visuals.

Yeah, I've been wanting to see a live-action Dark Elf Trilogy movie series or TV show for a long time. Or even a War of the Spider Queen series, but I think that's asking too much heh.
