I have an Ace paperback of the Howard Collector with that pic of the barbarian freeing the slave girl, and that dates back to 1979. I believe Jeff Shanks, who was art director at the time, recently signed him up for some new pics for the Modiphius Conan rpg.

I contacted BookPalace about this book a couple weeks ago, because it seemed way too similar to a Kickstarter that I had backed in 2018:
Reg from BookPalace got back to me with the following: "this edition is based on the previous book, but has many more images as well as updated existing paintings".
I thought that the Kickstarter book was fantastic. I didn't notice anything wrong with the resolution of any scans that would require "updating existing paintings", assuming that's what was meant. And the original is also 312 pages, so I don't know how they added "many more images". I'm going to wait until the book is released and read some reviews to see if this will actually be an upgrade.

I wonder how it compares with his 2010 collection titled Sword's Edge, one of my favourite fantasy art books.

The next issue of Illustrators magazine will feature the art of Gary Gianni: Illustrators issue 39We meet Gary Gianni, a modern master whose work still seems to emanate from the Golden Age of Illustration. From Solomon Kane to The Shadow, Prince Valiant to The Game of Thrones, we celebrate this amazing versatile artist.
We meet head on with the surrealistic comics of Paul Kirchner who tells us about his years in New York, assisting Wally Wood, being at Neal Adam's Manhattan Art Studio, and working for some disreputable publishers.
Finally we rediscover the endearing and enduring British comic strip Flook and its artist Wally Fawkes, better known as Trog.
More like a book than a magazine, illustrators is the art quarterly devoted to the finest illustration art ever published. With its unique blend of art and insight, it guides you through the stories behind the artists and their art, with features written by some of the leading authorities on this important art form.
As well as building into an indispensable reference library, illustrators gives readers an insight into the creative process, from the initial idea to the image potentially seen by millions.
Truly fabulous artwork abounds in every issue, much of the art taken from scans of the original work.
