William takes a dozen pages just to depict the first five minutes of the movie! The sequence shows every single move of the characters during the opening scene. It would take more than a hundred pages to finish it. What a story it could have been...

It would take more than a hundred pages to finish it. What a story it could have been... Storyboards don't operate the same way as actual comics, despite the close resemblance. According to this clip with William Stout from the 'A Riddle Of Steel: Conan documentary,' John Milius asked William Stout to forget the traditional storyboard technique - he wanted William Stout to adapt the movie like a comic-book!
It does not appear that William Stout adapted the whole movie in this way - if he did, it would be quite a feat!

CONAN LE GUERRIER -Conan the Warrior CONAN LE BOUCANIER - Conan the Buccaneer NeO books in France were the most complete line of Robert E. Howard collections ever published anywhere. Ever. Still to this day, even the Del Rey run, the Ace run, the Zebra run, the Baen run... none of them equaled what Neo put out there. Many of the covers were by Jean-Michel Nicolet. You can check out all the info here: howardworks.com/neo.html
