I’ve seen this 100 times at home, but never at the cinema, so I’m going to go! This was my gateway into The Hyborian Age, after which I made many dashes to the newsstand section of groceries and pharmacies to see if a new issue of SSOC was out yet! Those were the days of high adventure!

Awesome! Looks like it's playing just down the road. I'll be there for sure.

Wish it was showing in the UK so I could just shut my eyes and listen to the score booming out!

Nice! My dad took me to see it back then too, except I was only 8. Quite a memorable movie for a kid back then!

Looks like my theater will be playing it. As much as I bag on the movie, I still like it and would like to see it on the big screen. Problem is, it is a Fathom event and I've never seen one for less than $19.95. And it seems there is not much beyond unseen footage. Not sure I want to spend that much. Me, coming from a smaller city where ticket prices have never gone above $9. I know in some cities movies are small investment, price-wise.
I only ever saw bits and pieces of CtB in my youth, on HBO. Always got caught watching it by the folks and had to stop. This was when HBO only aired rated R movies after a certain time. Was it 9? 10PM?

They had it as a special showing at a cinema here about three years ago. It was a fantastic experience!

This movie was my gateway drug into first the comics and then the actual writings of REH . First saw it on laserdisc , or it may have been on the CED format ,in 1983 ,when I was 11 years old going on 12 , at my friend Alan Inman's house ,along with my friend Matt Winebrenner in Lakes Of Four Seasons in northwest Indiana . Alan moved away a year later and I never got to say goodbye , don't know what ever happened to him , and Matt passed away in 2018 . Good friends and many happy memories and they have never been far from my thoughts over the years . I will be going to see this for sure as it is playing near me and will be my first chance to see it in a theater . It remains my second favorite film of all time ,next to The Empire Strikes Back , and the Basil Poledouris score is the greatest movie soundtrack of all time . I noticed a lot of people here commenting that their fathers took them to see this movie in 1982 . My friend Alan was among those lucky souls . If you're out there man ,it would be great to hear from you .At any rate , those two will be with me in spirit when I go to see it and I will raise a flagon to memories of happier times by Crom !

So coincidentally, this year sometime, after 16 years of marriage, I mentioned this is one of my favorite movies of all time. My wife knows my love of the character, knows he probably ranks as my single favorite fictional character of all time, but when she heard this, she was kind of put out. "How come you've never shown it to me?" Well, several reasons - she doesn't particularly like Arnie, I thought she'd make fun of it, definitely doesn't seem like her type of deal, so I just never bothered. A few times over this year, we'd be casting about on various streaming services, looking for a movie to watch and I'd say "we could pop Conan in; you said you were curious." The response was always "Ehhh... not tonight." Then the stars aligned and I heard about this. So, last chance. Sent the email, "hey, I'm going to this; want to make an evening of it?" And she hit the pitch with an enthusiastic "I'm in!" We have dinner reservations at a brewpub and tickets at 7 pm tonight; I have it all planned to have a few craft brews and properly set her expectations, but should be fun! (And background: it took A WHILE for me to see the whole thing as a youngster; mostly saw the "edited for TV" on TBS when my grandma had cable and we did not; never seen on big screen, so should be cool! And I get to share a sliver of my childhood with my wife!)

"So, there's some sex for sure, but it's on par with the naked-er Game of Thrones episodes..."
