John Arcudi wrote several stories back in the day for the SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN. For the last few years he's been working with Mike Mignola on his HELLBOY spin-off long running series B.P.R.D., a military vs the supernatural action drama. I recommended it!

Fatale by Ed Bruabaker and Sean Phillips from Image Comics-think Lovecraft meets a 1950s noir film
This is good stuff, and there is a subplot where the main character drives to what appears to be Cross Plains where he meets a pulp fiction writer, who is supposed to be a mashup of Lovecraft and Howard. Given that this is horror/noir story, I would not anticipate things to work out well for secondary characters, but Brubaker said he wrote it as a tribute.
In the art gallery section of Issue 11, Simonson talks about reusing an approach to a page he took when he worked on a Breckinridge Elkins story for a fanzine over 40 years ago. Never heard of that, but another reason to pick up this book.
