See, I just don't think we get this sort of art these days. Everything seems a bit digitised, though, to be fair, there's some decent covers coming out. Yeah, we need artists that can illustrate the ol' fashioned way with pencil & inks. Unfortunately, only Mahmud Asrar on CtB appears to be drawing with pencil and inking his own work the old fashioned way. Although, I think his initial breakdowns and composition's done digitally. Ron Garney and Luke Ross (both on SSOC) appear to be illustrating with a digital tablet (Clip Art Studio, I think). Mike Deodato on Savage Avengers seems to tracing photos (photo reference) for his backgrounds, especially the buildings and architecture. He's also using something like Clip Art Studio or possibly some kinda 3D modelling software for the characters. There's something not quite natural about the anatomy and movement of Conan & Wolverine in the first issue.

Marvel should bring Gary Kwapisz back so they can relaunch the real SSOC. Agreed! And Joe Jusko is still out there to do covers!
Is Joe Jusko still working on the Edgar Rice Burroughs book Covers?

I doubt he'll be asked. Just like I doubt they'll ask Buscema clone Benito Gallego to work on any Conan. Marvel seems to want to promote a certain house style that the old timers don't fit.

Yeah, I know you're right. We still have over 600 Conan comics to choose from in the original classic Marvel run.

Could be Conan, could be Tarzan? Either way, I love the background in this.

During the Dark Horse years the art of Daryl Mandryk adorned a couple of the covers for Conan the Avenger. I dunno if it's the same artist - the art, aesthetically at least, was heavily influenced by the Brian Wood run with a less than physically dynamic Conan. As I mentioned earlier, I dunno if it's the same artist, but considering the direction Dark horse took at the time it could be. Here's a couple more from Daryl Mandryk that could be Conan or any generic barbaric type character:

The talented Joe Jusko is the guest of honor at this year's ECOF (Edgar Rice Burroughs Chain of Friendship) in Oakbrook, IL. Here is his Conan and Belit!

I wonder when those new ERB's he's doing the covers for will hit? Should be quite a spectacular set to compile. I just need more room. I got books coming out the wazoo. And not enough time to read, Hun!

I'm sure we'll have a great time. Been to two Dum-Dums, but this is the first ECOF. I imagine they're quite similar, actually. Gives me and the wife an excuse to leave the kids at home to tend to things, and sneak away for a few days.
