Here is the scabbard that Brian of DBK made for my Lundemo made sword from the first post. Truly a thing of beauty. It combines Celtic and Norse themes into a scabbard and belt for a Ranger.

That is frikkin' sweet, Zaskar. I could totally see a Gunderman, Aquilonian Ranger or Borderer wielding that. Lundemo and Brian did a great job. Always good to see ya on the forum!

I agree totally about any of those choices since they are my usual choice when playing the Conan D20 RPG. Wish I had more time to post here. I have a few more weapons to post here and am awaiting the arrival of two more swords.

I have Booker, replica to be exact. Its a classic knight two handed sword. It is made of carbon steel type 1045, wich is good for sabers and blades overall. Sword is long 105 cm, functional, preety sharp and good for penetration. One time I cut mu fingers on it... Other time I almost cut my head of when I try to imitate Arnies Conan All in all, Im satisfyed. And here's the thing: U can see it on my avatar also

A couple of Cold Steel large blades in the original Carbon V, not the later coated blades, the Trailmaster Bowie and the Gurkha Kukri. Pictured with a Desert Eagle 50AE...if that is a problem I will delete the pics.

Cool, wish I had that Gurkha Kukri.

kemp:
Thanks. Lots of time on eBay to find that one...too bad Cold Steel changed the steel. The old ones bring a premium.

Not too barbaric perhaps, but a couple of customs by Jay Fisher, one he made for my wife and one I picked up for me, both back when his prices and wait times were lower.

Good news is I found it....Cold Steel replica 1830 Napoleon Cavalry Saber..but the light is not good this evening. Will try tomorrow for some better shots. But for now.... And of the currently catalogued Cold Steel swords is is the 1830 although there is a 1813 date...will double check later, was an eBay late night adventure!
Edit:It is the 1830 model....double checked.

Cool sword, looks sturdy, maybe a little over ΒΌ inch thickness on that spine, I can easily imagine a central European Hussar, or more appropriately a French cuirassier wielding such a sword from horseback. The forward curve should make for good slashing strokes, point looks effective for thrusts. The more knowledgeable blade making companies such as Cold Steel are making swords from low alloy high carbon steel which has the best properties for shock resistance when it comes to larger blades.

Thanks. It is plenty sturdy and sharp...so no random swinging or slashing when it comes out! I have spent many hours reading at Sword Forum International and learned that stainless is too brittle and only suitable for wall hangers or what they call SLOs or sword-like objects!
Cold Steel says this one is made of 1055 Carbon Steel, so a carbon content between medium and high.
This one was a "steal" (groan) on eBay one late night many years ago.

The lower the carbon the tougher and more shock resistance you have in a blade, smaller knives seem better suited to being made from 1095 ( or the stainless steel alloys), better edge retention, but a little more brittle, a trade off so to speak, heat treat and everything else in construction being equal of course.
