Watching any good TV shows lately?
If you have Netflix, you definitely need to watch Stranger Things. I very highly recommend it...especially if you were a D&D player in the 80's.

Just finished this series last night. Pretty good stuff, hit me right on the nostalgia bone. Although I never played D&D...

Yeah, I think they did an excellent job of making the series feel as if it was made in the 80's too - from the title sequence and music score to the styles and pop culture references. There's a second season planned, so hopefully Netflix gives it the green light!

Agreed. John Carpenter's The Thing is my favorite horror film, ever. I loved it back in '82 when most hated it, and it has never been topped. This show captured a little bit of that magic. The Duffer Brothers are obviously 80's horror/thriller fans. Today's movies, despite advanced effects and computing power, are mostly soulless and hollow. I liked it better when the monster was an animatronic sculpture, or the car crashes were done with stuntmen, and the bullet hits were done with explosive squibs...and enough with stupid shaky cam!

Just watched the first 2 episodes of Stranger Things today. Really liked it, but the rest of the series will have to wait until late in the weekend before I have time to watch any more.

Cool! Let us know what you think when you finish, mrp. Agreed. John Carpenter's The Thing is my favorite horror film, ever. I loved it back in '82 when most hated it, and it has never been topped. Yeah, The Thing is probably in my top 10 list of horror movies, and it's effects like that that I miss sometimes. I like some CGI effects, but they work best when there's a nice balance. I think Stranger Things handled it nicely, as the computer effects were fairly and relatively minimal.

“Why the hell isn’t everyone armed all the time?” Fair point, but most of the time they actually are. And that photo he used of Carol with her hands up is from a scene where she has a gun hidden up her sleeve that she uses to mow down three enemies.

Ash vs Evil Dead! Great fun and great soundtrack too! Definitely, it's one of my current favorites! Any fan of the original movies and the over-the-top gore and humor should love this series.

I finally caught up with Stranger Things and actually enjoyed it a good deal (I tend to be skeptical of modern TV shows that get hyped up by everyone at the office). It got me in the mood to read some 80s horror novels.

For fans of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Gus is back! Dare I say that I'm enjoying this series more than Breaking Bad. Along with Fargo and The Americans, one of the best US shows on telly at the moment. ...... I wouldn't say I'm enjoying Better Call Saul more than Breaking Bad, but it's very close! BCS is one of my favorite shows currently airing. Fargo is top notch as well (especially the first season), though I haven't seen The Americans yet.
